Hampshire beat Notts by two runs

    Well that was extraordinary.

Turns out this county T20 thing ain't too bad eh? Get that on BBC Two!

Not your classic T20 but a low-scoring thriller and a sports psychologist's nightmare during that chase.

The champions are out and Hampshire are back at Finals Day for the first time since 2017.

    See you at Taunton tomorrow.

Hampshire captain James Vince speaking to Sky Sports:

"At halfway obviously we were down and we were looking a mile off.

"But throughout the competition, we have found ways to come back and we've done it again.

"We didn't try too hard and just found a way. Unbelievable."

Notts captain Steven Mullaney speaking to Sky Sports:

"It was a total we should have chased down and we lost wickets in clusters.

"The total was well below par. We knew it was a used pitch but it was a score we'd back ourselves to chase every time."

  5. Hampshire beat Notts by two runspublished at 22:01 British Summer Time 25 August 2021

    Notts 123 v Hampshire 125-9

That was carnage from Notts. Totally lost their heads.

Simply had to knock it around and win the game.

    So many stupid decisions.

They were almost done here last year in the quarter-final against Leicestershire.

    No escape tonight.

  7. Hampshire beat Notts by two runspublished at 21:59 British Summer Time 25 August 2021

    Notts 123 v Hampshire 125-9

    Absolute pandemonium for Hampshire.

Somehow they have defended only 125 against perhaps the best batting line up in the country.

    What a remarkable finish.

How on earth have Notts messed that up?

They were 66-1 in the eighth over!

    Paterson c McManus b Wheal 0

    Goddddiiiiiiimmmmm !!!

A full delivery just outside off, Dane Paterson swings and edges behind!

An easy catch for Lewis McManus, Brad Wheal has done it, Hampshire have done it!

  9. Notts need 3 from 3 ballspublished at 21:54 British Summer Time 25 August 2021

    Nothing again!

Low full toss and straight to midwicket.

  10. Notts need 3 from 4 ballspublished at 21:53 British Summer Time 25 August 2021

    Another yorker, driven to mid-off.

Should have been a run-out but James Vince drops the ball.

    No run.

  11. Notts need 3 from 5 ballspublished at 21:52 British Summer Time 25 August 2021

Brad Wheal with the final over and only three to defend.

Great yorker and nothing from the first.

    Notts 123-9 - need 3 from 6 balls

Chris Wood nails his yorker last ball so Matt Carter won't be on strike for the final over.

    Horror over from Wood.

    Notts 123-9 - need 3 from 7 balls

A drive runs wide of long-off for two.

And then does it again over long-on!

An even bigger strike from Matt Carter.

    Notts 115-9 - need 11 from 9 balls

So Matt Carter or bust surely.

He crashes one to extra-cover then gets an inside edge for nothing into the leg side.

And then clubs one over long-on!

    Another great hit.

    Notts 109-9 - need 17 from 12 balls

Dane Paterson is the last man and pushes to backward point.

This has been awful from Notts since the run-out of Ben Duckett.

    Notts 109-9 - need 17 in 13 balls

Matt Carter chips leg side only for one.

Then back to Luke Fletcher...who swing and misses and loses his leg stump!

Superb from Brad Wheal to nail the yorker.

Hampshire now one ball away from Finals Day.

    Notts 108-8 - need 18 in 15 balls

    Heave-ho the Bomber!

He tries to swing one into West Bridgford but only gets one to midwicket.

But here's how to do it...

Matt Carter clears the front leg and smashes one over the short extra-cover boundary.

    Great hit.

  20. Postpublished at 21:41 British Summer Time 25 August 2021

    Notts 100-8 - need 26 in 18 balls

    Bulwell Bomber to the rescue?

He times his first ball so wonderfully to long-off for a single.

Matt Carter then mistimes a sweep and good job too because it landed well short of deep midwicket.

Liam Dawson is done - 3-24 - almost single-handedly hauling Hampshire back into the match.

They should win now you'd think.
