Just the seven off the over - and unbelievably that's the most expensive over of the game so far. It wasn't a great over but got away with seven. The bad balls seem to be going to the fielders.

    Hampshire 33-2 v Notts (Prest 11, Weatherley 6)

Time for some leg-spin and here comes Calvin Harrison.

A half-tracker is easy meat for Tom Prest, who pulls it away to the mid-wicket boundary.

Hampshire need a lot more of those.

  3. Postpublished at 6 overs

    Hampshire 26-2 v Notts (Prest 5, Weatherley 5)

    The pressure increases.

Luke Fletcher is right on the spot - just a leg-bye and two singles from that over.

Who can wrest the initiative away from Notts? Unsurprisingly, they take the second powerplay.

  4. Postpublished at 5 overs

    Hampshire 23-2 v Notts (Prest 4, Weatherley 4)

A welcome boundary for Hampshire as Joe Weatherley sweeps Samit Patel fine. Not off the middle, that one, but they all count.

I'm not sure whether James Vince was feeling the pinch there after a slow start.

A huge blow for Notts as James Vince tries to swing Samit Patel away, but top edges and it's easy pickings for fielder Matt Carter. Joe Weatherley is in at four and Hampshire need something special from him.

  7. Postpublished at 4 overs

    Hampshire 19-1 v Notts (Vince 6, Prest 4)

Soft hands by Tom Prest, who dabs the ball down to third man for four. He'll feel a lot less nervous after that - but it's Notts who have the edge at this early stage of the innings.

I thought something might happen this over. He's got him on the splice of the bat and it's an easy catch.

  9. wicket

WICKET Short c Slater b Paterson 9published at 3.3 overs

    Hampshire 15-1 v Notts

Fourth over, fourth over - this time it's Dane Paterson.

D'Arcy Short spots one fractionally short of a length and pulls hard, but it's straight at Ben Slater and he takes the catch.

Tom Prest is the new batsman - what an experience this is going to be for the 18-year-old.

  10. Postpublished at 3 overs

    Hampshire 14-0 v Notts (Short 9, Vince 5)

Pace bowler Luke Fletcher bustles in for his opening over. It's another good one too until the final delivery which is a full toss. James Vince hammers it through the covers but Ben Duckett sprawls on the boundary edge to keep the Hawks skipper to one.

One thing I like about Matt Carter, he bowls with mid-on and mid-off up and with his height, backs himself not to get hit over his head.

  12. Postpublished at 2 overs

    Hampshire 10-0 v Notts (Short 7, Vince 3)

Spin from both ends as Matthew Carter enters the fray.

He gets away with a loose one to start with as James Vince tries to pull it away but under-edges into his pad.

Just four singles from the over and Notts will be very satisfied with that.

Regulation start from Samit and both sides happy.

  14. Postpublished at 1 over

    Hampshire 6-0 v Notts (Short 5, Vince 1)

Three dot balls, then Samit Patel drops short and D'Arcy Short cracks it away for four off the back foot. A pair of singles follow to finish the over.

    Hampshire 0-0 v Notts

    Time for some action.

D'Arcy Short and James Vince are the Hampshire openers.

Samit Patel will bowl the first over.

Australian D'Arcy Short is one of three Hampshire batsmen to pass 300 runs in this season's T20 Blast and they are delighted to have retained his services as they try to reach FInals Day again.

Short has an overall T20 strike-rate of 133 and though he has only made one 50 in the Blast this summer - 69 off 30 balls in their final group game against Glamorgan - he has consistently provided early impetus at the top of the order.

He has hit 12 sixes and 37 fours in the competition and made a couple of early 50s for Trent Rockets in The Hundred before his form tailed off.

Short could also have a role to play against Notts Outlaws with his left-arm wrist spin, which has brought him six wickets so far.

These two sides have met three times previously in the domestic T20 competition with Hampshire ahead 2-1.

In 2012, they came out on top chasing a target of 179, thanks to an unbeaten 79 by South African Neil McKenzie.

Two years later, James Vince played the starring role with 93 not out off 51 balls as they reached 198-5 with an over to spare.

In 2017, though, it was Notts who came out on top, successfully defending a score of 169-7 despite 56 off 32 balls by Vince.

Notts Outlaws v Hampshire Hawks (play starts 19:00 BST)

    Calvin HarrisonImage source, Rex Features

Very few people outside of Trent Bridge would have heard of Calvin Harrison before the start of the season.

The leg-spinner made a couple of first-class appearances for Oxford MCCU back in 2019, but in the past few months has established himself as a key member of the Notts T20 side.

His haul of 18 wickets is matched only by Jake Ball for the Outlaws and earned him a call-up to the Manchester Originals squad for The Hundred.

Harrison claimed a personal best of 4-17 in the group game against Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston, and would love to return there for Finals Day.
