That's more like it by Glamorgan.

Colin Ingram square cuts to backward point for four off Blake Cullen and finds the boundary again two balls later, this time crashing it through the covers despite no discernible foot movement. He has 19 from 13 balls.

Middlesex will certainly be content with this start.

Apart from Colin Ingram's six in the opening over, Glamorgan have had to settle for ones and twos, although the visitors had the bonus of four byes in Tim Murtagh's latest over.

Today's rain claims the third match of the day as its confirmed that Essex v Gloucestershire is abandoned before the players can take the field.

As you can see from the image below, the covers are on, the umbrellas are up, and there won't be any cricket in Chelmsford this evening.

An early breakthrough for Middlesex at Sophia Gardens where Nick Selman plays all around Blake Cullen's first delivery and is palpably lbw.

Selman goes for three and that brings Australia's Marnus Labuschagne to the crease.

It's Tim Murtagh for Middlesex from the other end. There are few more wily campaigners on the county circuit and he induces a false stroke from Colin Ingram, who nevertheless takes two for a leading edge.

The weather isn't playing ball today and we've already lost a couple of games with Surrey v Hampshire and Sussex v Somerset abandoned without a ball being bowled.

All the others are going ahead as it stands but we do have a couple of pitch inspections coming up imminently.

They are at Essex, where the Eagles are taking on Gloucestershire, and at Worcester, where the Rapids are preparing to face Northants.

Glamorgan 9-0 v Middlesex (1 over)

It's spin to start with in Cardiff as Paul Stirling is given the first over by Middlesex.

It's a good one too - well, the first five balls are, as they cost Stirling only three singles - but Ingram ends it with the game's first maximum, swung away over backward square.

Having already given you the teams at Sophia Gardens, Glamorgan have been forced into a late change.

Skipper Chris Cooke has dropped out, with Tom Cullen coming into the side to keep wicket.

David Lloyd will captain in Cooke's absence.

Glamorgan have an excellent T20 record against Middlesex, having won eight of the 10 previous meetings between the two sides.

They have won four out of five in home games - but Middlesex's sole success was the last time they visited Sophia Gardens in 2019.

On that occasion, the Welsh county mustered only 136 all out batting first, and Middlesex knocked off the runs for the loss of Stevie Eskinazi (pictured below), who made 51.

Neither team has made a great start to this season's T20 Blast and both go into this evenings's game with just one win from four games so far - and Glamorgan will be hoping for a much improved batting effort after being bowled out for just 104 by Kent on Wednesday.

Glamorgan have won the toss at Sophia Gardens and opted to bat first.

The home side make two changes with Callum Taylor and Timm van der Gugten coming into the XI - while Middlesex name the same team that played against Gloucestershire last night.

It is Eoin Morgan's last game for Middlesex before England T20 duty against Sri Lanka.

Glamorgan: Selman, Lloyd, Labuschagne, Ingram, C Cooke, Carlson, Taylor, Douthwaite, Smith, Sisodiya.

Unfortunately, only five overs were possible against Surrey at the Kia Oval, but a no result meant both teams stay unbeaten.

Elsewhere, two sixes in the 18th - and what proved to be final - over of their run-chase at Radlett were enough to give Gloucestershire a two-run win over Middlesex via the DLS method.

In North group, David Bedingham's 58 off 39 balls provided the spark for Durham to beat Lancashire Lightning by six wickets, while Leus du Plooy's unbeaten 48 secured a five-wicket win for Derbyshire over Northants.

We are nine days into this season's T20 Blast competition - and for most of that time we've had perfect cricketing weather.

Two out of four games were rain-affected last night, though, and it looks like we're in for more wet stuff this evening.

There are four matches scheduled in North Group this evening and two in the South, following the earlier abandonment of Surrey v Hampshire and Sussex v Somerset, and wherever there is action, we'll be giving you regular updates.
