The Phoenix decide to open with two spinners. Kirstie Gordon starts well but the third ball of the set she hangs is a little short and Bryony Smith biffs it through the covers for four.
Bryony Smith smacks a drive straight back at Erin Burns off the final ball of that set. The Phoenix spinner crouches down and gets her hands to it but spills the catch.
Welsh Fire have scored 42% of their runs from boundaries hitting one every 8.5 balls in the women’s edition of The Hundred.
That's the poorest rate among all teams in the tournament
Birmingham Phoenix, incidentally, have scored 48% of their runs from boundaries.
Spin first up and Erin Burns, bowling in a cap, drops a short one on leg side which Bryony Smith whacks around the corner for four.

It will take some run for Phoenix to get through to the eliminator now!
The Fire batters are just making their final preparations in the dug out as the Phoenix players race on to the outfield amid a flurry of smoke, flame machines and fireworks.
Every ticket for today's double header at Edgbaston has been sold.
“The support has been fantastic from Birmingham Phoenix fans at our three games to date and we can’t wait to play for another big crowd again today,” said Phoneix skipper Amy Jones.
“They’ve broken records by turning up in such big numbers and there’s been a lot of orange on show around the ground.
“We all love playing at Edgbaston, so want to go out with a big win and say thanks for the great backing that we’ve received.”
Birmingham Phoenix have won just one of their five matches in the women’s edition of The Hundred with four defeats, and they have lost all three of their matches at home.
Could they break their Edgbaston duck today? Welsh Fire have won, and lost one, on the road.
Welsh Fire skipper Sophie Luff said: "We would have bowled as well but it looks a good deck, hopefully we can put a score on the board.
"I hope the middle order can show their quality today. If we win we can travel to Southampton to play on Wednesday with some momentum. These are big two games coming up.
"We make one change, with Lissy Macleod in for Alex Griffiths."
Birmingham Phoenix captain Amy Jones, speaking to Sky Sports after the toss, said: "There's rumours of a bit of rain later so we'd prefer to chase in that situation. It's all riding on today. It's our last home game so we'd love to get the win in front of everyone.
"There's been disappointment around but as a team we've been proud of how the girls looked have really after each other. We had a team barbecue last night, lots of laughs, and everyone's still keeping spirits high.
"We are not too down but hoping for a good one today. We make one change with Emily Arlott in for Issy Wong."
Birmingham Phoenix skipper Amy Jones has won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Bottom of the standings, with just one win, it really is a make-or-break day for Birmingham Phoenix's women's team in the inaugural edition of The Hundred.
Amy Jones' side need to win all three of their remaining fixtures - starting with today's clash against Welsh Fire - to have a chance of making the Eliminators.
