England World Cup-winning spinner on Test Match Special
It was a good fightback from India with the ball. I still think it's an evenly poised contest. After the first two sessions it was definitely all going England's way and I was doubting India's team selection without a variation of a spinner, but I think both teams will be pretty happy.
Heather Knight was playing shots all around the ground. She looked confident and solid at the crease, she didn't look like getting out until that one ball. It was the first mistake she made all day and she will be frustrated with herself but that's one of the best innings I've seen her play just because she was so in control every ball she faced out there.
Before India's spinners fought back, with Deepti Sharma picking up 2-50 and Sneh Rana taking 3-77.
Captain Heather Knight was in superb form for England...
But fell just five short of a Test century...
So here's a recap of the day... Tammy Beaumont played beautifully for 66 off 144 balls...
The fielders are in close and there's plenty of discussion between bowler and captain between deliveries.
But Dunkley sees off a maiden over and that's close of play on day one at the County Ground in Bristol.
England were flying after the first couple of sessions but have been pegged back by India's spinners.
An intriguing day's cricket.
They do indeed have time for one more over. It will be Sneh Rana to bowl it.
Pandey is finding plenty of swing late in the day. She completes her over. Time for one more?
A thick inside edge! Dunkley survives. Another good decision by the umpire.
Eng 268-6
Just the one over with thew new ball for Goswami as Shikha Pandey comes into the attack.
And Dunkley is struck on the pads! Given not out by Umpire Redfern. My initial reaction was out, unless she's hit it? India review, they'd love a late wicket here.

There have been times where India have looked listless today, but when you look back on it, they've taken the big chances and there have been some wonderful catches.
Rana continues and there is a good diving stop from Shafali Verma at point to stop an almost certain four for Dunkley.
The England batter then edges the spinner wide of slip for two runs.
Goswami could and should have done better with the new ball - two down the leg side, one so far on the off side that it's signalled a wide and a few which fail to trouble the England batters.

Most lbws in women's Test cricket - Goswami 17, Brunt 17...
Plenty of swing as the ball twice goes down the leg side and is well taken behind the stumps. England will need to be on guard here, Goswami just needs to get her line right.
Mithali Raj gives umpire Sue Redfern the signal and a second new ball has been taken by India.
We have 15 minutes to go and Goswami has the ball in hand.

I've enjoyed watching Dunkley on debut, she's looked very assured.
Sharma offer Brunt a bit of a gimme, a full toss which should be clubbed to the boundary but is instead hit to mid-off.
Just the one from it.
Brunt 6, Dunkley 9
I was wrong, I thought India may have taken the new ball mid-over. A single apiece for Brunt and Dunkley.
We will go on until 18:30 BST so 20 minutes left in the day's play.
