  2. Eng 59-7published at 13 overs

Chris Jordan can survive the boundary and out curse. He actually picks up a couple with a nice pull through mid-wicket.

He then drops onto the back foot and picks up two more through backward point.

A good over for England, with 10 coming off it.

Shot! Chris Jordan hits Akeal Hosein over long-on for six.

Can he avoid getting out next ball, though?

Marcus: Let's put this into perspective: a team that doesn't have any of the Ashes squad in is 11 overs into a five-match tour. Sure, it's going badly, but we're an excellent white-ball team, who will recover.

  5. Eng 49-7published at 12 overs

Adil Rashid plays out two dot balls to end the 12th over.

When Eoin Morgan said this series wasn't about winning yesterday, it was about learning about players and getting opportunities into them, I can't imagine this is what he meant.

This isn't the easiest of pitches, but it's not a 49-7 pitch. There's been some pretty soft dismissals.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.4 overs

    Morgan c Pollard b Shepherd 17 (Eng 49-7)

Oh, my! Boundary and out for the fourth time!

Decent bowling from Romario Shepherd as he turns to the off-cutter and Eoin Morgan plinks a drive straight to the bucket hands of Kieron Pollard at cover.

I'll be watching Match of the Day live at this rate.

    Lovely from the England skipper.

Eoin Morgan advances and drives over the covers for the third six of the innings.

    Gorgeous.

Tom Cunningham: Waiting for the 'we have focused too much on red ball cricket' excuse after the game.

  10. Eng 41-6published at 11 overs

Chris Jordan is the new batter and he gets off the mark with a whip down to long-on for a single.

He averages 14.09 in T20 internationals. England would take every single one of those 14 right now.

I must way, I do think Saqib Mahmood could be a handful on this pitch. It is just if England can work up to some sort of total.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.1 overs

Dawson run out (Pollard) (Eng 39-6)

Oh, excellent, a run out. Just what England needed.

Liam Dawson nurdles straight to cover and decides to set off for a single straight away. He is sent back by Eoin Morgan, slips and ends up flat on the floor. It allows Kieron Pollard to step in, gather and under arm the ball to Shai Hope, who whips off the bails.

    Dearie me.

Dan Tinkler: With players like Bairstow & Buttler not on this tour, who could have done a better job than Banton or Vince stepping up? Oh yes, Alex Hales! He's flying for Sydney Thunder again, Eoin Morgan needs to suck it up and forgive the guy already, been in exile long enough!

    Eng 39-5published at 10 overs

    Morgan 8, Dawson 2

Odean Smith offers England a little bit too much width and they are able to take four from the over.

It is time for a drink in Barbados. It is a beautiful day still.

  15. Postpublished at 20:44 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2022

Odean Smith, who can hit speeds of 90mph and hit the ball an absolute mile, is coming on.

    Bodes well...

John Higgins: Another day, another bunch of England bowlers wondering why they bothered to turn up.

  17. Eng 35-5published at 9 overs

Just a single from Akeal Hosein's second over.

How do you want England to approach this? It is unlike them to go into their shell - they'd probably prefer to be bowled out for 60 looking to be positive than nudge and nurdle their way to 80 or something.

There's plenty of bounce in this pitch though, and that is making stroke play difficult.

  18. Eng 34-5published at 8 overs

England's lowest total in a T20 is 80 against India in Colombo, 2012. That is very much under threat here. After Eoin Morgan and Liam Dawson there is Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Sajib Mahmood and Tymal Mills.

Three singles and a couple of wides from the eighth.
