    That's it from us tonight.

I'll leave you with Amy Lofthouse's report, the scorecard and a clip of the winning moment.

We'll be back tomorrow from 12:30 BST for the second men's ODI between England and Sri Lanka, while we'll be back with the women on Saturday.

    In a bit.

Player of the match Kate Cross: "It was brilliant, it was a good day. The crowd was amazing.

"I even tried a bouncer, I think! It's nice to get recognition for being boring, I think, from just trying to bowl tight lines and keep the score down so it was nice to get some wickets myself.

"It's difficult to always be in and out of the side and I often say we don't get enough game time so when you're carrying the drinks for those games it's even harder. I've done some technical work before the season which has paid dividends towards my consistency.

"It was a really gutsy team performance, Dunkley and Brunt were brilliant at the end but it was set up nicely by the bowlers first up."

India stand-in captain Harmanpreet Kaur: "I believe our bowlers did a really good job. It wasn't a good total for them to defend but I'm so proud of how we bowled and fielded.

"We felt that 221 wasn't a winning total, we need to start getting scores of more than 250 but we know our bowlers can win games for us. But we fought well, even though it was a below par score.

"We did feel like we could win when we had them five wickets down. But their batters played really well, credit to them. We felt we were in the game the whole time of their innings."

  4. 'Dunkley has made the six spot her own'published at 21:34 British Summer Time 30 June 2021

England captain Heather Knight: "Yeah, really pleased to get the series win. The pleasing thing as a team is that we were tested today, and I think that is really good for our development as a side. It was a good game of cricket and we managed to keep our composure, and that partnership was outstanding.

"I'm so chuffed for Kate Cross. She's had a tough couple of years, but she's been brilliantly this year, and just being Mrs Consistent and really hitting the deck and getting some seam movement. She showed a few new tricks today too.

"Our middle order hasn't had a great amount of opportunity, so to see Sophia Dunkley in that situation, it was such a mature innings, it was so composed. she kept it simple, and took the low risk options, before speeding up a bit. She's made that number six spot her own."

Sophia Dunkley is the real deal. She looks at home in international cricket. She got 70 odd not out on both Test debut and ODI batting debut, if you like. She plays differently to a lot of England's top order, she likes to use her wrists, but she's been brilliant.

Sophia Dunkley didn't play like someone playing her first ODI innings.

She came to the crease with England struggling at 92-4, but showed unbelievable composure, and talent to make 73* and guide the hosts home.

India's problem is that they're just not scoring quickly enough when their openers get out. Today it was Mithali Raj again, but with Harmanpreet Kaur this time. It wasn't a Kaur innings, she's not playing like herself.

They were up against a world-class bowling attack but you can't play that defensively because England will just capitalise.

Kate Cross has been superb with the ball so far in this series.

Her line, and perhaps even more importantly, her length have caused India real problems.

She finished with 5-34 from her 10 overs today.

The final ODI is at Worcester on Saturday (11:00 BST), before the three Twenty20s.

England can make sure they don't lose the series in that game.

What I really liked about that partnership was the way the two of them absorbed all the pressure they were under.

Katherine Brunt loves to whack the ball but she stuck in there, reined in her instincts and with Sophia Dunkley she just played simple cricket, they just rotated the strike and punished the bad ball.

A special mention for Katherine Brunt too.

She finished on 33 not out, and played a crucial role in that match-winning partnership of 92 with Sophia Dunkley.

There were a few wobbles but in the end it was clinical from England's star all-rounder Katherine Brunt and a wonderful maiden ODI innings from Sophia Dunkley.

Sophia Dunkley - playing her first ODI innings, don't forget - finishes unbeaten on 73.

She was dropped on 23. It is a case of what might have been for India.
