Burns showed great composure. I'd have been shaking like a leaf.

Starc c Burns b Woakes 35 (Aus 391-8)
A wicket! Having hit a four a couple of balls earlier, Mitchell Starc gets a bit big for his boots and hits an extravagant flick straight to Rory Burns in the deep.
Burns' heart must have been going because the ball was in the air a long time but he settles himself and holds on. He's grimacing rather than smiling.

It's not been carnage, but a drip feed of painful agony.
Head 133, Starc 31
If we forget about the no-balls I actually thought Stokes bowled well yesterday until he picked up his injury. That was dismissive from Head, however.

Whack! Hello Ben Stokes. Goodbye Ben Stokes.
Travis Head emphatically whacks him back over his head for six.
Ben Stokes is on for a bowl. It's a low bar but that's the best thing to happen to England today.

Former Australia fast bowler on Test Match Special
England need to think if they bowl four or five dots, Starc will play a big shot. If he doesn't get that right, he'll be out.
England have an impressive ability to make lower-order Australians look like Brian Lara or Viv Richards during Ashes series. It doesn't usually happen on day three of the series.
Mitchell Starc whistles one past Robinson's bootlaces and it races to the fence.

Katharine: Settled down for the third day of the Ashes. It's my birthday - would be nice if England could have them out by lunch.

Mitchell Starc edges through the slips for four. It went down and was never a catch. This already feels like one of those loooonnngg Ashes nights.
I like those new Asda uniforms.
Head 123, Starc 22
It's as flat as three-week old pop. Robinson looks like he's already looking forward to the flight out of Brisbane as he collects his cap at the end of the over.

You have to get batters hitting drives, otherwise you're in for a long day. All three of Robinson's wickets came from full balls.
Australia don't look in any hurry. They're just ticking along with ease rather than attempting to score quick runs. We've already had our first rendition of the Great Escape from the England fans.
On the unusual things near cricket grounds theme, I thought I'd got my car locked in a lawn bowls club in Cardiff during the summer.

Mark Poole: Fully expect to wake up to the headline 'England lose inside three days as Australia dominate the first Test'.
Head 122, Starc 20
Aggers now has me wondering what the most unusual thing near a cricket ground is.
Having not given it much thought, my best effort is the fancy dress shop outside Headingley. I'm sure you have better examples...

The Gabba must be the only cricket ground in the world with an adult shop across the road from it.

Mark Wood replaces Chris Woakes after two overs. He's bowling at 90mph right away but Mitchell Starc knocks him for a couple. Sigh.
Andy Zaltzman
BBC Test Match Special statistician
Australia moved from 250 to 350 in just 17 overs, almost a run a ball.
