Oh, massive spike on Snicko as the ball passes the bat!
Marcus Harris, on 36, is handed a life.

It was a confident review.
Harris was pushing forward, bat very close to pad, but there's not a speck on HotSpot.
To Snicko we go...

The fact he reviewed it right away suggests he might have hit it.
Ooh, now then. Has he hit this?
Ben Stokes strikes! Marcus Harris, out lbw!
Harris reviews, because of course you would.
Cheers, Tim. Hello all - Merry Christmas etc etc.
This is my first Ashes live of the series. I've spent much of the past few weeks watching from behind a cushion. Dreadful.
Anyway, this is going rather well. Here's Ben Stokes, post-drinks.
Time for some liquid refreshment and I'm nipping off to make myself a cuppa. Rest assured I leave you in capable hands with Amy Lofthouse poised to guide you through to lunch.

England are having a pretty good morning.
James Anderson is presenting the kind of seam position you'd expect if he was doing a Powerpoint presentation on seam positions.
Another inside edge from Smith before one nips off leg and Jos Buttler dives to prevent any byes.
A maiden for England before drinks.
Steve Smith top-edges a pull off Ben Stokes and they run three as Australia reach the 100-mark. Marcus Harris then punches through point to add two more to end the over.
England won't mind Australia playing their shots.

That would have gone perfectly to third slip. Instead it's raced away for four runs.

Put another slip in!
Nostradamaxwell.
Steve Smith nicks Ben Stokes' first ball into the gap between second slip and gully to pick up four more.
England are, at least, creating openings here.

Anderson is getting some nibble off the surface. It might be worth having someone else in the slips, the way this is going.
Here's that Mark Wood delivery which got rid of the limpet-like Marnus Labuschagne.
Honestly, England have competed with Australia in this series but just not often enough.

I think that may have carried... Buttler got a glove to it. It was very, very tough, but Buttler was there.

I don't know if you can call that a dropped catch. The ball hit the back thigh and that took some of the pace off it.
Ooooh, that was close. An inside edge from the bat of Steve Smith off James Anderson just misses the stumps and offers a glimmer of a chance of a caught behind.
Jos Buttler dives full length and gets a paw on the ball but cannot hold on. That was right at the end of his finger tips.
The ball races away and another run to the total. "It's not how mate, it's how many" as they say in Australia.

I loved the moment earlier on when the fans were singing Jerusalem and Joe Root stood, applauding the support. All they want for Christmas is a contest!
