Stuat Broad tries another little dab sweep and just manages to clear Marnus Labuschagne at short leg for a single.

I thought I heard Jonny Bairstow say no there and then Stuart Broad was like no, come on.
Nice cricket all round, first as Jonny Bairstow drives Nathan Lyon for three before Stuart Broad calls him through for a quick single.
Broad can bat. I know it's fun to watch his interpretative dance style of batting but he does have some shots. And he could do with sticking around here with Bairstow on 113 and counting.
Here's how Jack Leach fell a little earlier.

England would love another 30 or 40 here if they can get them.
An inside edge from Stuart Broad somehow skips past the stumps and he gets two runs for his troubles.
That's a bit more like it from Broad as he aims an uppish drive down the ground and manages to clear Pat Cummins at mid-on.
Another huge swing and another huge miss...

That was a bit of swipe from Stuart Broad, if I am being honest.
If he can survive 10 or 12 balls he can get himself in.
Stuart Broad swings hard to his second delivery and hustles it away well enough to pick up a couple.
His massive attempted wallop at the next delivery is not quite as successful. Not by any measure.
Oh, no, it's Scott Boland to have a bowl.

Bairstow can't work a single, which means Broad will have to face Starc for at least one delivery...
Stuart Broad takes his time, making Nathan Lyon wait, before he paddles his first ball around the corner to get off the mark.
Just 99 away from the three figure mark.
Good news - he's on strike now.

Totum: How is Broad going to score his flashing 50 without any strike?
Credit to Alex Carey, who has just shook that off and is now stood up to the stumps for Nathan Lyon.
Getting hit on the hands is never fun but I imagine the fingertips are particularly painful.

There is a real walking wounded situation in both teams.
