This is the crux. This is the real point.
Unsurprisingly, Australia have taken the new ball straight away.
It will be captain Pat Cummins who gets first use of it.
They have 22 overs left to find five England wickets.
How's this for intent, Marnus?
Yours, Jonny.
22 overs left
Jos Buttler picks up a couple through mid-wicket, before nudging round the corner and down to the fine leg region for three.
Buttler, who has a hand injury, hasn't shown any visible signs of pain yet.
The new ball is now available.

It's nerve-wracking if you're in next. Everyone will have a position in the dressing room and as long as the team isn't losing wickets, they won't move.
23 overs left
Jonny Bairstow now plays out a maiden from Nathan Lyon. England have, rightly, gone into safety mode.
Marnus Labuschagne is saying "no intent" under the helmet, but that is probably the right approach for England right now.

24 overs left
Steve Smith lands all six deliveries, which is a success really, but there are no scares for England, who add a Jonny Bairstow single to the scorecard.
Two overs till the new nut is available.

Steve Smith is going to bowl some filthy all-sorts leg-breaks.
Steve Smith is going to have a bowl. He bowls leg spin.
Australia just want that new ball now.
Ben Stokes entertained us while he was around.
25 overs left
Jos Buttler sees out a maiden from Nathan Lyon.
There was an appeal from lbw - more from the close fielders, than Lyon - but it hit Buttler far too high and was going over the top of the stumps.
Three overs until the new ball. That is going to be so crucial now.

Eddie: Stokes often seems at his most vulnerable after playing a positive shot. He's has a good Test with the bat considering he's been injured for both innings though.
26 overs left
England also picked up three singles from that Mitchell Starc over. He hasn't been that threatening in this innings so far. That could obviously change, especially with a new ball just four overs away.
Australia have only bowled nine overs in 45 minutes. Get on with it man!
Lovely. Jos Buttler is up and running with a good-looking drive through point for three.
Will England draw this Test?
Thumbs up for yes. Thumbs down for no.
27 overs left
Jos Buttler, who is suffering with a hand injury, defends his first two balls to complete the Nathan Lyon over.
The new ball is five overs away, and Australia have opened up an end.

Oh, Stokes is not happy with himself. He didn't have to play at that. He nicked it straight to slip.
Stokes c Smith b Lyon 60 (Eng 193-5)
Stokes is furious with himself!
He'd just played a drive over mid-off, but this is a bit soft.
Nathan Lyon drops short, and Stokes rocks back and guides a catch to Steve Smith at slip, who catches it in the heels of his hands.
Stokes raises his bat, as if he wants to smack it into the ground, and starts to fall to his knees. He trudges off, holding the bat behind his neck in frustration.
The game is open again.
Some player is Devon Conway.
But, 99 not out at close? Surely he's not sleeping tonight.
