  1. Aus 65-3published at 17 overs

England are undoing all their hard work. Australia are counter-attacking superbly.

Mark Wood - who has been excellent in this series - has conceded 31 from his three overs.

Travis Head picks up three through point, before Labuschagne pulls and drives through the covers for boundaries. A three down the ground sandwiched them too.

Head and Labuschagne have put on 53 in 44 balls now.

  2. Aus 50-3published at 16 overs

    Labuschagne 26, Head 16

Hmmm, not a good start from Chris Woakes.

He over pitches and Travis Head drives away for four before a floaty half-volley is given the treatment it deserves from Marnus Labuschagne.

Chris Woakes is on to replace Ollie Robinson.

This is not a good period of cricket from England. They had the Aussies on the rack. Now they are taking the pressure off.

Wood has not got it right in these first two overs.

  6. Aus 41-3published at 15 overs

    Expensive over for England.

Ben Stokes does really well in the covers to stop a full-blooded drive from Travis Head, but the England all-rounder is grimacing. Has that caught his dodgy finger? Or his wrist? Hmmm. One to keep an eye on.

Head and Labuschagne both pick up a boundary to end the over.

Some of the pressure is relieved.

This is the fullest England have bowled in the series so far.

  8. Aus 30-3published at 14 overs

Ollie Robinson continues, for a seventh straight over, but he can't quite get his line right, twice straying down the leg side.

I haven't noticed Sam Billings behind the stumps so far, which is probably the biggest compliment you can give a wicketkeeper. He's done absolutely nothing wrong.

And I'll just keep the treats coming too.

Here's how Ollie Robinson got Steve Smith for a duck.

England have kept Smith relatively quiet in this series, certainly compared to the previous two series.

Here's how Stuart Broad picked up England's second wicket, that of Usman Khawaja...

Is anyone else wondering what score England would be now if they were batting?

Five down? It's quite possible. The pitch is very green, and added to the grey overhead conditions, the bowling conditions are favourable.

It is something of a lottery on a pitch like this. The ball is all over the place. It is not often you see a pitch like this in Test cricket.

  13. drinks break

    Aus 29-3published at 13 overs

    Labuschagne 17, Head 4

Slice of fortune for Travis Head and Australia as the left hander is in the air, looking to drive away, but finds a healthy inside edge. It flies to the ground, and towards leg stump, but it misses it by a fairly comfortable margin in the end. It is a far from convincing stroke though.

Marnus Labuschagne picks up another boundary, with a well-timed flick off his pads.

Time for a drink. Without doubt, England's hour though.

    A change for England.

Mark Wood replaces Stuart Broad, who took 1-9 from his six overs.

  16. Aus 24-3published at 12 overs

Marnus Labuschagne drives the next ball just past the sole England fielder in the covers and away to the boundary.

Ollie Robinson immediately calls for a field change and moves gully to more of a point position.

England are still attacking with four slips though.

  17. Aus 20-3published at 11.2 overs

    Marnus Labuschagne is beaten again!

He is semi squared up, and Ollie Robinson finds a little bit of nip past the outside edge of a groping Labuschagne.

Can he get through this period? He was dropped on 0 and he has been beaten at least five times now.

  19. Aus 17-3published at 11 overs

A little bit of light relief for Marnus Labuschagne and Australia as he drives an over-pitched delivery from Stuart Broad through mid-off for his second boundary.

The grey clouds are settled in at the moment. It is hard to see batting conditions improving anytime soon so this is a real opportunity for England.

  20. Aus 13-3published at 10.3 overs

    Beaten!

Marnus Labuschagne is again squared up, prodding at a ball that keeps slightly low, but the ball evades the edge by a couple of inches.

The Aussie chunters away to himself, pointing at something with his arm. He chews his gum that little bit more intently too. He's really having to zone in at the moment.
