Lovely piece of bowling. In the previous over Robinson was slightly short and he has adjusted his length. He has got significant seam movement.

Warner just pushed forward but because of the nip in the surface it found the edge.

GOT HIM! England get the breakthrough they deserve.

It is lovely bowling from Ollie Robinson. It pitches just slightly outside off stump and moves away a tiny bit to draw the outside edge of a defending David Warner and Zak Crawley claims a thick edge at second slip.

    A 22-ball duck for Warner.

Here's the first ball, where Stuart Broad ended up flat on the floor.

At least he saw the funny side...

  4. Aus 3-0published at 5 overs

England deserve a wicket here. They have started really well.

Stuart Broad pitches one up, and a tiny bit of movement takes it past the outside edge of a driving Usman Khawaja.

Broad just walks through, putting his hand to his lips, while Sam Billings shuts his eyes and hangs his head in disappointment.

Billings has been tidy so far, by the way.

  6. Aus 2-0published at 4 overs

Oh! Ollie Robinson, back with either new boots or longer studs, cramps Usman Khawaja for room and he ends up taking a blow to a rather delicate area. I wonder if Joe Root is offering up any advice on how to get through the pain.

Khawaja twice has a little prod, but the ball is an absolute mile away from the bat. It doesn't stop Robinson for pursing his lips in frustration. Khawaja just has a little laugh.

Something along the lines of "but, I found batting so easy last week" will be what he's thinking, I imagine.

That was a poor shot from Warner.

  8. Aus 2-0published at 3 overs

    England have started well, here.

Stuart Broad has David Warner stuck in two minds. He can't decide whether to come forward or go back, and as a result he ends up jarring down on the ball and it just bounces off his leg stump. A let off.

    Back-to-back maidens for Broad.

  10. Aus 2-0published at 2 overs

Beaten again! Ollie Robinson again finds some seam movement with his second ball, and Usman Khawaja is squared up and has a little prod, but it misses the outside edge by a considerable margin in the end.

Khawaja gets up and running with a flick through square leg for a couple.

Robinson sprints off at the end of the over too. He and Broad have had issues with the bowling crease so far, so Robinson may be changing his boots for some longer studs I presume.

  11. Aus 0-0published at 1.1 overs

Offt! Absolutely beauty first up from Ollie Robinson.

He squares Usman Khawaja up with one that moves off the seam, and it flicks off the thigh pad as the Aussie opener has a little fiddle.

Twin centuries last week, almost a first baller today. The harsh realities of top-level cricket.

Ollie Robinson, who is back in the side after missing the fourth Test with some shoulder discomfort, will get us going at the other end.

  14. Aus 0-0published at 1 over

A tidy maiden to start from Stuart Broad.

There's signs already that this pitch is quite slow and tacky, certainly at the moment anyway.

David Warner twice got a leading edge, and one went through to debutant Sam Billings on the bounce too.

    What on earth!?!

Stuart Broad has ended up flat on his face on the pitch first ball, having slipped and overbalanced in his follow through.

The ball itself comes in and hits David Warner on the pads, but the left-hander was outside his off stump.

The sun is coming out too. What a lively start.

  17. Postpublished at 04:30 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2022

Stuart Broad is going to bowl the first over, with David Warner on strike.

Australia have a new look opening pair, don't forget. Usman Khawaja, who made twin centuries batting at five in the last Test, is alongside Warner rather than Marcus Harris.

We're almost through all the formalities of the welcome to Hobart and the two national anthems.

After a delayed start, for what feels like the umpteenth time this series, we're almost ready to get going.
