Mark Wood is looking at the pitch, pointing at it and marking where he's slipping. There is quite a lot of grass on it and there has been a lot of rain around. When you do slip you don't have much control and he did hit the ground quite hard there.

Darkness really taking hold now. Wood cast shadows in all directions as he hurries in. He's not happy with where's landing, pointing accusingly at the turf.

This has been a classic Travis Head innings. He always scores quickly and will get a few but he always looks likes giving you a chance as a bowler.

A fine cricketer, Tolkien. Nuggety opening bat. Travis Head has been hit on the glove again, this time by Woakes. He's on to 46 from only 49 balls.

These are the wickets that have fallen today.

115-4 looks very favourable for England, but on an emerald green pitch and with Ollie Robinson off the field, I'd say there's danger afoot.

Ben Stokes felt his side as soon as he hurled the ball there. This is the problem. If he hurts it he can't have a substitute and he might set his comeback back a while.

He just can't help himself. He doesn't do anything half-hearted.

  9. Aus 107-4published at 07:32 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2022

Behave yourself, John. Hobart has what every cricket ground in the world should have - grass banks for spectators to sit. There's a fella in there wrestling with a rubber snake. Ben Stokes, at mid-off, hurls the ball at the stumps and immediately clutches his side. Try not to do that, Ben.

"Run him out!" shouts Sam Billings as Cameron Green angles Woakes for a couple. He's been a breath of fresh air for England. Lots of energy.

Hmmm. Only one over for Robinson after lunch. Chris Woakes is on. Keep an eye on that. Remember, only four seamers in this match for England. No Jack Leach, Ben Stokes with his side held together by string.

England have a great chance of winning this Test match if they can bowl Australia out for 140-150.

The floodlights are just starting to take hold. Ollie Robinson has gone off the field. Not sure yet if he can bowl the next over...

That's an extravagant shot from Travis Head.

I must say, I think Australia have played really well here. Anything even remotely loose - that wasn't even that loose - they have taken every opportunity to attack.

    Whippage.

Travis Head picks-up Ollie Robinson for four through the leg side. Only a couple of bounces on the way to the rope. Australia are throwing the beans at anything they can. Get your runs before one comes along with your name on it.
