I think it's even at the moment - England would've liked one more wicket. Haynes has not been fazed by her slow run-rate and is backing herself to catch up.

  2. Aus 58-1published at 15 overs

They've had drinks in Hamilton, serenaded, weirdly, by "Uptown girl" by Billy Joel being blasted over the PA. I'm more of a fan of Billy's earlier stuff, to be honest.

Australia are the side that you expect to win this World Cup. If they don't, it will be a real surprise.

On this showing, it is easy to see why.

  4. Time for spin?published at 02:02 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

I'd be keen to see a little bit of spin in the next couple of overs.

Corduroy: I find disposable cameras are a great way to wait two weeks for 27 photos of my thumb, but they're very NICE photos of my thumb.

  6. Aus 57-1published at 14.3 overs

Nice! Rachael Haynes steps away a touch to leg, giving herself room to drill Sciver through the off side for rare boundary

  7. Anya on the moneypublished at 01:59 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

Just look at this consistency in length from Anya Shrubsole...

Anya Shrubsole's bowling: 0% full, 84% good length and 16% short. 5 overs, 0 maidens, went for 20 runs, took 0 wickets with an economy of 4.00.
  8. Aus 52-1published at 14 overs

    Haynes 12, Lanning 4

England are keeping it tight, Meg Lanning swishes across her pads for one that sees Amy Jones behind the stumps thinking she'd missed it for a split-second. Otherwise, it's going a bit quiet out there.

  9. Disposable camera explained?published at 01:53 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

    Alex Hartley
England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

    It's always my career that I don't remember, I remember other people's.

Hmmm, I suppose that'll do for a reason. We may still have to explain the concept of a device that just takes pictures to younger readers...

  10. Aus 48-1published at 11.5 overs

A wide one from Cross eludes Haynes' bat, flicks Jones' gloves and rolls away for four wides.

  11. Aus 43-1published at 11.3 overs

Rachael Haynes opens her shoulders at last and flays Cross through the off side for four.

  12. Aus 39-1published at 11 overs

Kate Cross is into the attack to replace Anya Shrubsole, who went for 20 off her five overs so far.

    Stephan Shemilt
BBC Sport's chief cricket writer in Hamilton

Our TMS summariser Alex Hartley is travelling with a disposable camera. I genuinely can't remember the last time I saw one of those.

Stephan, they were a staple of many weddings I went to around the turn of the century. Never a good mix.

  14. Aus 38-1published at 10.3 overs

Rachael Haynes wanders down the pitch and has to be sharp to get back into the crease as Jones whips off the bails. There's a review and it shows that was just home.

  15. Aus 37-1published at 10 overs

    Haynes 6, Lanning 1

Skipper Meg Lanning is at the crease, and she nurdles Shrubsole away to get off the mark.

It looks to be brightening up in Hamilton - I think I went through it when backpacking in NZ in the 90s. Anyone been there?

Not a great shot from Healy. Sciver just rolled her fingers down the side of the ball so it didn't come onto the bat as quickly as Healy expected. England get the wicket they deserve.

    Healy c Brunt b Sciver 28 (Aus 35-1)

    Gone!

Alyssa Healy clips Nat Sciver into the leg side but it loops to Katherine Brunt at mid-wicket for an easy catch.

  18. Not outpublished at 8.3 overs

    Aus 33-0

As I thought - it was just missing the top of leg stump after flicking the top of Healy's pad.

  20. Umpire reviewpublished at 01:35 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

Healy is trapped in front and given out, but she elects to go upstairs!
