Australia have again stamped their authority on women's cricket. I genuinely cannot see anyone else winning this World Cup. It was an exceptional display by Australia

  2. Aus 310-3published at 04:35 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

Thank you Sam, some debut session that - calls a brilliant hundred and sees Australia hit the accelerator.

  3. Australia 310-3published at 50 overs

    Mooney 27, Perry 14

Two more boundaries for Perry to see out the innings as Australia breeze past 300. Rachael Haynes was superb, Meg Lanning too and England need a record chase in a Women's World Cup to win...

I'll hand over to Tim Oscroft to pick the bones out of that innings before Heather Knight's side begin a rather daunting chase.

  5. Aus 299-3published at 49.1 overs

A boundary to end the last over and a boundary to start this one. Ecclestone gets her line wrong and Ellyse Perry works it away behind square.

You can't blame Haynes for going for that. It was an unbelievable knock, and for the first match Australia have already laid down their mark.

    Haynes c Wyatt b Sciver 130 (Aus 291-3)

The end of a magnificent innings from Rachael Haynes. The left-hander times it well again but this times picks out Danni Wyatt on the deep mid-wicket boundary.

  8. 6 runs

    Aus 289-2published at 48.1 overs

Haynes is flying and she is not going to miss out on a full toss from Sciver. It's clubbed over the leg side for the second six of the innings!

  9. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 47.2 overs

    Aus 282-2

It's a great effort from Sciver at deep mid-wicket as Haynes tries to hoist Ecclestone over the ropes. The fielder makes good ground but can't hold on to the catch as she dives forward.

Albert Family: Fell asleep. Woke up and the cricket was deja vu all over again. Brought back nightmares of The Ashes.

  11. Aus 275-2published at 47 overs

    Mooney 20, Haynes 117

Haynes goes again! A length delivery from Sciver and she times it to perfection, hitting over mid-wicket for a one-bounce four.

Another big over for Australia, three more to go...

It's looking difficult for Bangladesh now, who need 88 more runs to win off 12 overs against South Africa. Crucially, they only have four wickets in hand. Follow the conclusion via our scorecard here.

  13. Aus 266-2published at 46.1 overs

Beth Mooney has taken no time at all to get going. She anticipates the short ball from Sciver and uppercuts it down to the boundary at third.

  14. Postpublished at 04:17 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2022

A rare moment to celebrate in the innings for England. Meg Lanning gone for 86.

  15. Aus 260-2published at 45.3 overs

Back-to-back boundaries from Haynes - in very different manners!

The first is an attempted sweep that comes off the top edge but goes straight over Jones and runs away to the rope.

That was typical of how things have gone for England in this innings and the next was the perfect example of Haynes' dominance, a drive clattered through the covers.

  16. Aus 250-2published at 44.5 overs

There is a brief delay as Sciver hits Mooney on the helmet with a bouncer. That brings an obligatory concussion check but the Aussie batter looks fine to continue.

Meg Lanning was certainly getting herself into T20 mode before her dismissal. This one was right out of the middle...

The scary thing is for Australia is that it is just T20 mode for everyone that comes in.

It would not put it past Ecclestone to get a three-fer as Australia are going to accelerate here.

  19. Aus 246-2published at 44 overs

    Mooney 7, Haynes 100

Haynes has her century but Australia aren't going to spend long dwelling on that, there are more runs to be had!

Beth Mooney gets going by thumping the ball over mid-off for four and a legside wide from Cross then gets past Jones behind the stumps, five wides to further bolster the Australian total.
