A huge sigh of relief for Cross and England! It was very full, hit Cross in line but was turning down leg. England remain eight down.

This doesn't look good for Kate Cross. She's played all around a straight one.

Mohammed into the attack and she looks to have got Kate Cross! The ball thuds into the pad and up goes the finger. Reviewed...

  5. Eng 185-8published at 42 overs

Really good over from Matthews, just two from it and that ramps the pressure up that bit more on Cross and Ecclestone.

Still less and a run-a-ball required but with eight wickets down, it isn't quite that straightforward.

I poked my head into the press box, and I braved it. I asked Nasser if he would come on the No Balls podcast.

He said he has to check with his bosses, but other than that he would love to!

  7. Eng 184-8published at 41.2 overs

So close for Matthews! The off-spinner draws Cross forward and gets just enough turn to beat the inside edge - and misses the off stump by a whisker.

England have a problem in that Lauren Winfield-Hill and Amy Jones look completely bereft of confidence.

And there's not an easy solution, because they have kept on backing Winfield-Hill and Jones' wicketkeeping keeps her in the side.

The only other specialist batter in the camp is Emma Lamb. So do they move the order around instead, is that the answer?

  9. Eng 183-8published at 41 overs

Alleyne is back into the attack but when she drops short, Cross is able to swivel and pull the ball away back square. Four runs.

If England were to lose this game, it's not terminal. In theory you can lose three matches and still reach the final four, with other matches going your way.

But it would be very tight, and leave them no wriggle room.

  11. Eng 178-8published at 40 overs

    Cross 12, Ecclestone 10

Ecclestone just gets the bat down in time to avoid being plumb lbw to the returning Hayley Matthews and gets three down to fine leg.

The off-spinner then reels off four dot balls before a sweep from Cross adds two more to the England total.

10 overs to go, England need 48 to win. West Indies need two wickets.

  12. Eng 173-8published at 39 overs

Dropped catches and wides. We've seen plenty of both in this match and we get another of the latter as Connell completes her 10 overs.

West Indies will forgive her should her three wickets help take them to victory. That remains the most likely outcome but a boundary from the last ball, flicked through square leg by Cross, keeps England in the hunt.

I'm very nervous. If England lose this, I've got to text Crossy and organise recording the podcast tomorrow.

Good running brings Ecclestone two after a sweep that runs away square. Taylor keeps England to a further three singles from the over.

Connell follows up her double-wicket over with another good one, just a single from it.

Despite that, 65 from 78 balls remains well within England's reach... if they can bat their overs.

These two can bat. I do still think that England have the best batting 11 in the world, they bat all the way down.

They'll still be backing themselves here.
