Super stuff by Qais Ahmad. A poor set of five first up but he's come back, bowled slower and brilliantly.

    Hales c Banton b Ahmad 26 (Rockets 71-4)

    The big wicket goes!

That had been coming. Alex Hales had been getting frustrated, unable to break the shackles of the Welsh Fire's spin attack, and he ends up lashing Qais Ahmad up into the air and down to Tom Banton.

  5. Rockets 69-3published at 45 balls left

    71 runs needed

That's a very good over from Graeme White, who almost twirls Alex Hales out twice.

Glenn Phillips, after just pulling off a good catch then slides past the ball in a regulation stop in the field, and allows Sami Patel to pinch three runs first up.

Welsh Fire are bowling well to their plans so far. They need to keep Alex Hales off strike because if he gets going there is no ground in the world big enough to stop him. I like the fact Ben Duckett has brought mid-on and mid-off up. That's helped him get the wicket of Steven Mullaney.

    Mullaney c Phillips b Payne 11 (Rockets 63-3)

That's... not the cleverest shot you'll see.

Steven Mullaney tries to crash a huge six over mid-wicket, gets his timing all wrong and slaps it straight to Glenn Phillips on the fence.

  12. Rockets 63-2published at 52 balls left

Quicker from David Payne, touching 85mph, and Steven Mullaney toe-ends an attempted thwack down to keeper Tom Banton.

That was quality. I liked the intent from Steven Mullaney from ball one. That was a fantastic shot and it was important for him to keep the momentum up so it's not all on Alex Hales. If a few guys can come in and play cameos around Hales that will get Trent Rockets close.

  14. Rockets 62-2published at 55 balls left

    78 runs needed

That's a good set of five for Trent Rockets.

  15. 6 runs

Rockets 61-2published at 56 balls left

Steven Mullaney has a look at four deliveries and then batters his fifth from Graeme White back down the ground for a big 'un.

Jimmy Neesham you can't keep him out of the game! These are short boundaries but Qais Ahmad backs himself to execute his skills. I think he could now rip through this batting order. Qais doesn't need to try to be the next Rashid Khan, he just needs to be Qais Ahmad.

  17. Rockets 51-2published at 60 balls left

    89 runs needed

This is finely poised as we approach the halfway stage.

    Malan c Neesham b Ahmad 20 (Rockets 50-2)

    Qais Ahmad strikes!

Dawid Mala is absolutely fuming with himself. He tries to go big down the shortest part of the ground and ends up lashing the ball in the direction of Jimmy Neesham, who is a superb ground fielder. Neesham dives forward, tumbles, and hangs on to send Malan packing.

It shows the depth in England's T20 team that Dawid Malan and Alex Hales might not get into their team. Malan is a classy player, builds an innings and gives you that stability in the innings.
