  1. SA 86-7published at 16 overs

    Markram 33, Rabada 1

A lovely bit of symmetry in that over. Single. Dot. Single. Dot. Single. Dot.

South Africa are going to have to muster something from the final four overs here. Their fans still believe on the grass verges. They are waving their flags in support.

The worrying thing for South Africa is Australia haven't done much other than keep it simple. They haven't had to leave first gear or go to Plan B.

  3. SA 85-7published at 15.3 overs

There's a lot of pressure on Aiden Markram's shoulders here.

Just two singles from the first three balls of Adam Zampa's final over...

    Excellent point, Jason.

Expect quarterly drinks breaks and a lot of sidewards passing...

That's a nasty one. A very hostile ball.

  7. ouch!

    SA 83-7published at 14.5 overs

    Ouch! What a bouncer.

Pat Cummins hits Kagiso Rabada on the right shoulder, and then the ball bounces into the grille of the helmet.

Cummins offers up an apology. No such thing as the fast bowlers union these days.

Rabada can play a few shots but it's not really that situation yet - we're only in the 15th over.

Kagiso Rabada is the new batter.

He does average 22.25 in T20 internationals...

What on earth is going on there? Extraordinary situation. The ball was just flying all over the field. That was a shambles.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14.3 overs

Maharaj run out (Wade) 0 (SA 83-7)

Absolute chaos. This is proper village cricket.

Let me try break that down for you:

    • Keshav Maharaj drives straight to backward point
    • A fielder shys at the non-striker's end, and the ball goes past the fielder backing up so Maharaj tries to take a single
    • Markram, who dived in initially, sends him back, but Maharaj slips over and ends up on his backside half way down the pitch
    • The throw from Glenn Maxwell into wicketkeeper Matthew Wade is pretty wide, so he has to gather and then dive and almost crawl into the stumps.

What a chaotic bit of cricket. Shambles.

Those two wickets in big succession are a big blow for South Africa. The tailenders are not expected to score runs so they can throw caution to the wind.

Pat Cummins is coming back on. Relentless.

It could be a long ol' winter.

South Africa are sliding here again. They are in big trouble. He simply wafted the bat at that and it was nicely taken by Wade.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14 overs

    Pretorius c Wade b Zampa 1 (SA 82-6)

    Another one.

Adam Zampa gives Dwaine Pretorius a fair bit of width and the all-rounder's eyes light up, but he feathers a thin edge through to Matthew Wade, who takes a good catch behind the stumps.

Can South Africa make it through their 20 overs?

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.3 overs

Miller lbw Zampa 16 (SA 80-5)

You just don't take on Michael Gough. He doesn't get them wrong.

It is absolutely crashing into the middle of middle stump, and it just doesn't get much more out than that.

South Africa are in big trouble here.

  20. South Africa reviewpublished at 13.3 overs

David Miller is daring to take on Michael Gough.

The English umpire has given the left-hander out lbw to Adam Zampa, but the South African goes upstairs straight away.
