Australia bowler Josh Hazlewood, who is named player of the match: "Length was the key it was about hitting the top of the stumps. Anything full was easy to score or short.

"The wicket was a little stoppy or slow.

"It got closer towards the end but we know those guys are finishers and we have confidence in them."

A win is a win. Wins breed confidence and confident teams can go a long way.

South Africa have plenty to work with. If they had managed another 20 runs they would have the artillery to defend that total.

It may have been a woeful display with the bat from South Africa, but they can take plenty of encouragement from the way their bowlers fought back.

The players shake hands as they get their first game of the tournament out of the way.

Those are the games you have to win. If you can keep winning you get on a role. South Africa were brilliant in defeat but they took too long to bring Nortje back to get the wicket.

  15. Aus 113-5published at 19.1 overs

    Need 6 from 5 balls

Brilliant running as Stoinis takes a couple off Pretorius. There shouldn't have been two there!

It has been a manful effort from South Africa.

The game is not done. These smaller total games can provide a better spectacle. It hasn't been what traditional T20 cricket can be about.

The first ball in this over is critical.

  17. Aus 111-5published at 19 overs

    Need 8 off 6 balls

Stoinis drives, off the bottom of the bat, for a single.

We're going into the final over. You'd say Australia are favorites, right?

    A much-needed boundary.

  19. Aus 110-5published at 18.5 overs

    Need 9 off 7 balls

Stoinis finds the boundary as he pulls through mid-wicket! Much-needed for the Aussies.

  20. Aus 106-5published at 18.4 overs

    Need 13 off 8 balls

Australia can only find the fielders as another swing of the bat goes straight to Rabada at a wide third man.
