He picked the slower ball perfectly there, watching the ball all the way onto the bat. Bangladesh were just getting a little bit stuck so that will ease the pressure completely.

    Another six from Mushfiqur Rahim!

Binura Fernando sends down a slower ball and Mushfiqur, back leg bent, hoicks him high and long into the stands.

Naim has been outstanding. He hasn't got out of the blocks rapidly but he's holding the innings together.

  4. Ban 87-2published at 12 overs

Dasun Shanaka is on for Sri Lanka and concedes just four from his first over.

There's a cracking atmosphere in Sharjah. It felt a little flat yesterday but there's plenty of support for both sides in the enormous bowl-like stadium.

In case you missed it earlier, there was a bit of a commotion, shall we say, when the first Bangladesh wicket fell...

A smattering of singles finish Hasaranga's latest over.

That's a brilliant shot, just picking the right length to play the slog sweep. Bangladesh are piling the pressure right back on Sri Lanka's best bowler.

    Shot!

Mushfiqur Rahim gets down on one knee and slog sweeps Hasaranga straight into a group of Bangladesh fans in the stands. What a hit!

    Thanks, Ffion.

Mickey Arthur came marching out at the drinks break to address his Sri Lankan players. One day, I hope one of these global tournaments will have an Arthur-Cam option where we can just watch his increasingly furious reactions at any moment.

Hmm. More aggression from Sri Lanka as Karunaratne throws the ball back at the batter - the second time we've seen that today - and Bangladesh scamper through for an overthrow.

At the halfway mark, Bangladesh have a very good platform to go on to make a competitive total. Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl, remember.

And on that note, I'm going to try and cure myself with hot lemon and honey and hand over to Amy Lofthouse.

  12. Ban 67-2published at 9.2 overs

Chipped in the air - but safe!

Not the most convincing shot from Naim, the ball flying down to fine leg for a couple of runs and Karunaratne is making things happen for Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh, if they can go at eight an over and get to 153, will be happy, on what is a not great batting pitch.

  14. Ban 65-2published at 9 overs

Sri Lanka turn to their trump card, Wanindu Hasaranga. A tidy over but it still costs seven runs as Bangladesh play relatively risk-free cricket.

The good news for Bangladesh is that Naim Sheikh is still there on 30. Having a set batter is key in T20, so he needs to make the most of this start.

  16. Ban 58-2published at 8 overs

A good fightback from Sri Lanka, whose celebrations are showing just how high emotions are out there. Time for Bangladesh to rebuild.

That was just short of a good length and I don't think Shakib picked the line or the length properly. It's a massive wicket, to get Shakib for just 10.

    Shakib b Karunaratne 10 (Ban 56-2)

    Huge wicket!

Bangladesh's star all-rounder smashed two glorious fours the previous over but he falls to a pretty innocuous delivery - trying to clip through midwicket but ends up losing his leg stump somehow.

Big celebrations from Karunaratne, but he makes sure he's pretty far away from Shakib, perhaps making sure to avoid a confrontation like the one that followed the first wicket.

  20. Ban 53-1published at 7 overs

    Yes, they can!

Sri Lanka introduce some spin from Asalanka and it's not the best start - he concedes three fours from his first over. Litton Das' departure hasn't affected Bangladesh too much, it seems.
