  1. Post update

Time for us to end this live here.

I'll leave you with Ffion Wynne's report and you can scroll down to re-watch some of the best moments from that game.

We're not done there though! Our coverage of the day's second game between India and New Zealand is getting under way right now.

    See you there!

  2. Post update

Afghanistan bowler Mohammad Nabi: "The boys are in good morale at the moment. Batting first isn't a proper plan to always do that but we discuss all options in the meetings. Mentally the boys are ready for both.

"We encourage our openers to play their game. We don't want to change in a tournament. Keep doing what you've done in the last 10 years and enjoy your cricket.

"We have good quality seamers and they have good variations. Hamid Hassan came in today and bowled brilliantly."

  3. Post update

Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus: “We knew it would be a level up from our previous games with them being a Test-playing nation and having bowlers in the top 10 in the world. They were just good for us today.

“We had to change our plans, but we weren’t able to stay there for long enough. We let them off a hook a bit too much at important times. I thought 160 would perhaps too much on this wicket and on this ground with the dimensions.”

  4. Post update

On that note actually, three games have now been won by the team batting first.

Afghanistan have done it twice against Scotland and Namibia, while West Indies also did it against Bangladesh.

  5. Post update

In the day's other day, that starts at 14:00 GMT, New Zealand have won the toss and they will bowl first against India in Dubai.

First strike to NZ? Chasing teams have dominated this World Cup on the whole.

  6. Post update

Naveen-ul-Haq is named player of the match but gives it to the retiring Asghar Afghan: "He is the best captain Afghanistan has ever produced. I have learned a lot of things under his captaincy. We have huge respect for him, everyone in Afghanistan knows his name and we will miss him a lot."

    BBC Test Match Special

It is going to be absolutely fascinating to see how the rest of this group pans out.

  8. Post update

Naveen-Ul-Haq has been named as Man of the Match but he has given the award to Asghar Afghan.

The bowler made his debut under the former skipper and says he has helped him a lot in his career.

Afghan got a guard of honour earlier. He was then seen in tears in the dugout.

  9. Post update

They were then very good with the ball to pick up another big win.

  10. Post update

Afghanistan were once again brutal with the bat today.

They possess one of the most powerful batting line-ups in this tournament.

    BBC Test Match Special

The end of a magical, legendary international career for Asghar Afghan.

Handshakes all around and lots of hugging - and now Gulbadin is carrying him off the pitch on his shoulders.

I love this. A wonderful moment.

  12. Post update

Asghar Afghan has just been carried towards the boundary on the shoulders of Gulbadin Naib.

He is receiving hugs, handshakes and all sorts. There are more tears.

  13. BreakingAfghanistan win by 62 runs

What a perfect way for former captain Asghar Afghan to sign out. He is retiring after this game if you didn't know.

Afghanistan move to four points and their net run-rate is massive because of that huge win against Scotland. They are in a decent position to make the semi-finals, but will likely need to beat one of India or New Zealand.

  14. Nam 94-9

    Need 67 from 6 balls

Ruben Trumpelmann turns down another single before missing with a big old heave ho to end the over.

    Odd cricket.

  15. Post update

    Abhishek Jhunjhunwala

Former IPL batter on BBC Test Match Special

You want to finish this as soon as possible if you are Afghanistan, you don't want to give away another 15-20 runs as it could be all about net run rate at the end of the group stage.

  16. Nam 94-9

After back-to-back boundaries Ruben Trumpelmann is turning down singles.

The number 10 isn't letting the number 11 take strike.

    Cricket.

  17. Nam 90-9

    Need 71 from 10 balls

Today is the first time that pace bowlers have combined to take eight wickets for Afghanistan in a T20 international.

Their seamers had only taken two wickets in their opening two games of this tournament.

  18. Post update

    Abhishek Jhunjhunwala

Former IPL batter on BBC Test Match Special

Hamid Hassan should be very proud at the way he has played today. He got an opportunity and made the most of it.

  19. Nam 85-9

    Need 76 from 12 balls

No balls or wides and Afghanistan have won.

This tournament has been dominated by the chasing teams so far. Only two games before today have been won at the team batting first - Afghanistan against Scotland and West Indies against Bangladesh.

Afghanistan look set to do it again.

  20. Nam 80-9

Hamid Hassan finishes with figures of 3-9 from his four overs.

A superb day out. He raises his hand to acknowledge the crowd.
