There is technique to hitting the ball far. I like the baseball style swing because it makes it easier to pick up length.

Australia have made the very correct decision to send Mitchell Marsh out instead of Steve Smith.

    Bowled!

Aaron Finch goes for a swing, misses, and Taskin Ahmed connects with the stumps.

A dot ball to break up the carnage.

    Aus 58-0published at 4.4 overs

Back over Taskin Ahmed's head for another six!

I actually thought he'd miscued that but no, it's gone flying over the ropes.

  7. 6 runs

    Aus 52-0published at 4.3 overs

    Shot! Oh, Aaron Finch!

A stonking lofted drive goes sailing into the stands, and that brings up Australia's 50. What an absolutely stunning bit of batting that is.

Bangladesh are staring at humiliation here.

  9. Aus 46-0published at 4.2 overs

Aaron Finch tries to ramp, misses, and survives a very optimistic lbw shout.

  10. Aus 46-0published at 4.1 overs

    Ooft!

Aaron Finch slaps Taskin up into the air, without timing or control, and he's lucky that the ball just hustles over the head of a back-pedalling Mushfiqur.

  11. Postpublished at 11:58 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2021

Clearly Aaron Finch has some afternoon plans that he'd like to get to.

    Target 74

Now that's the cut shot Warner was aiming for. Four!

    21 off the over!

  13. Aus 40-0published at 3.5 overs

    Oh, that's close!

David Warner sends a thick outside edge into the air, aiming for another thumping cut, but it beats the fielder at short third and races away for four.

Get fielders on the ropes! Aaron Finch isn't swinging the bat for ones and twos. He's going for boundaries.

    Aus 35-0published at 3.3 overs

    Target 74

I'm finding this absolute mauling by Australia is good preparation for watching the Ashes this winter. Sigh.

Aaron Finch picks up Mustafizur and plinks him gloriously for six.

David Warner cuts beautifully for four.

  18. Aus 23-0published at 3 overs

    Finch 19, Warner 3

    Oh dear...

Aaron Finch flicks aerially off his pads and Soumya Sarkar comes charging in for the catch, misjudges it, and ends up watching the ball bounce past his outstretched hand and go for four.

    Taskin is not amused.

I think a lot of injuries which are picked up by Bangladesh's cricketers are because they don't play other sports. Playing different sports helps develop different muscles, plus things like your hand-eye coordination. In Australia and South Africa, for example, they play a lot of rugby as well as cricket.

  20. Aus 18-0published at 2.2 overs

Taskin swings a delivery past a swinging Aaron Finch, the ball missing everything, before Finch finally skews a single away.

It's not pretty, this, but Australia won't care. They want to get over the finish line as quickly as possible.
