Glenn Maxwell just spent a full five seconds struggling to put his hat on because his top knot was getting in the way.

    A perfectly normal sentence, there.

It was important that Trent Boult bowled that over, there was no point leaving him to bowl the 18th and 20th over.

Glenn Maxwell is off the mark with a tip and run.

Trent Boult has the frankly ludicrous figures of 2-8 from his three overs.

  4. Aus 107-2published at 12.3 overs

Glenn Maxwell swings and misses at his first delivery from Trent Boult.

I love that Australia are attacking with Glenn Maxwell. They want to be on the front foot and this sort of mentality can help you in the big games.

Glenn Maxwell, rather than Steve Smith, is the new batter.

That is exactly what Kane Williamson will have wanted.

It was all about the length, hitting the top of the stumps. It was exactly how Australia bowled. New Zealand have either been a bit short or a bit full so far.

    Warner b Boult 53 (Aus 107-2)

    And Trent Boult strikes!

Oh, there's stumps akimbo as Boult bowls a nice length delivery, David Warner goes for a huge yahoo and the ball slips past the bat and goes clattering into the stumps.

This is New Zealand's last throw of the dice, with Trent Boult back into the attack.

Now we've seen Australia bat we have to ask if New Zealand left a few runs out there because there was no intent from them in the first 10 overs.

New Zealand need to find a wicket or two. You can't let Australia go into the final five with only two or three wickets down.

If it is going to get twitchy for when Trent Boult comes on then New Zealand really need to get the squeeze on in the next couple of overs.

Australia need 67 from 48 balls. New Zealand need a miracle.

Australia are looking like they are going to walk this. They are looking to be aggressive and get there in boundaries.

  15. Aus 105-1published at 11.5 overs

That's just bad from Santner, short, sitting up, and a grateful Mitchell Marsh whacks it with aplomb for four.

It is a sensational bit of fielding. How many times do you see that bounce over the fielder and go for four?

That is a brilliant bit of fielding. It is one of those that is really difficult to decide whether you want to go for the catch or stop the boundary.

  18. Aus 101-1published at 11.4 overs

My word, that was almost an amazing catch!

Glenn Philips produces a superb run from the boundary to dive just short of a flat, powerful pull from Mitchell Marsh.
