Richard Gleeson speaking to BBC Sport: "I got the nod last night. Bit of nervous energy this morning. Big breakfast, get to the ground early, get ready.

"If you said when I was 27 starting out I'd be making my debut at 34, it goes to show if you keep persevering, you never know what might happen."

England never quite got going and India never let them.

A brilliant all-round performance from the visitors in the end.

India got off to a flyer in the powerplay before England pegged them back through debutant Richard Gleeson, who took three wickets, and Chris Jordan, who took four.

Some late-hitting from Ravi Jadeja propelled them to 170, and it proved to be far too many.

The ability to move the ball both ways - we associate swing bowling with the red ball, but we can see it can be crucial in T20 cricket as well.

It's a very subtle change of Kumar's wrist, the in-swinger at Southampton to get Jos Buttler, the out-swinger today to get Jason Roy.

In this series the bowlers have done a fabulous job. Bhuvi makes a huge difference, picking up those wickets in the first six.

England are all out for 121, David Willey finishing unbeaten on 33.

Moeen Ali top-scored with 35, Bhuvneshwar Kumar the pick of the bowlers for India with 3-15.

India have completely outplayed England here. The half-way stage they looked at par, but the bowlers have really come to the party.

INDIA WIN BY 49 RUNSpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 9 July 2022

Parkinson b Harshal 0 (Eng 121 all out)

Matt Parkinson is cleaned up by a vicious yorker from Harshal Patel and that is a comprehensive win for India.

    England have been completely outplayed.

David Willey fancies a little cheeky innings here!

A low full toss smacked away for four more! David Willey is playing very nicely.

Great shot! David Willey swings his arms at a wide delivery and slashes it away for six.

    Keep 'em coming!

    Target 171

Matt Parkinson blocks the last ball so that David Willey can keep the strike.

A ruthless performance from India, this.

    Gleeson c Kohli b Hardik 2 (Eng 109-9)

India on the brink of victory.

Richard Gleeson had a dream debut with the ball but in fairness, he's not in the team for his batting. He slogs one high in the air and Virat Kohli jogs in from long-on to take a simple catch.

A proper tailender's shot, but he didn't really have much choice.

Need plenty more of that from David Willey, who's batting with the tail now. It was the line that allowed Willey just to scoop it on its way to fine-leg.

    Target 171

David Willey isn't that fazed by the run out.

He smashes Hardik Pandya's next two balls for four and six, but is it enough?

The last thing you would want is a run-out. A complete breakdown in communication. Maybe there was a two there, Chalal was quick. This is massive, Chris Jordan can be extremely destructive. Not tonight.

Jordan run out Chahal 1 (Eng 95-8)

    Village. So village.

Chris Jordan clips into the leg side, sets off for two straight away but David Willey never wanted it.

He sends him back but such is Jordan's speed that they're practically stood next to one another by the time he realises he's got to turn around.

A simple run out in the end.

Good bowling and good captaincy. They brought mid-on into the circle, Moeen tries to seize on that opportunity and hit over the top and didn't quite get hold of it.
