That's all from us on a day to forget for England. Jasprit Bumrah tore through their top order and they never recovered.

India knocked off the 111 they needed to win in next to no time and go 1-0 up in the three-match series.

I'll leave you with Matthew Henry's excellent report from The Oval, where the game was done and dusted within 44 overs.

We'll be back for the second ODI at Lord's on Thursday as England try to level the series and set up a decider at Old Trafford on Sunday. Until then, goodbye!

Player of the match, India bowler Jasprit Bumrah: "When there is some swing and some seam movement, that is a very exciting sign for white-ball cricket when you get that opportunity. Usually, you have to be a little bit defensive and be aware of how the wicket he playing and stopping the runs coming.

"That's the easy part. When the ball is doing something that is when you don't have to do too much, you can just put the ball in the eight areas and let the ball do the work."

India captain Rohit Sharma: "Looking at the overhead conditions and the pitch, I thought it was the right call to bowl first. We wanted to use the conditions and we did that up front really well.

On the new-ball bowling: "We never really worry too much about the conditions because we've got the guys who can come in and exploit whatever the conditions are.

"We saw in the T20 series as well, when the pitches were flat, we came out and did the job as well. Today was more suitable for the fast bowlers, there was some swing and seam as well. We exploited those conditions pretty well.

"We know the quality of our new-ball bowlers, they can swing the ball both ways so it was important to keep those catchers in for as long as possible. They bowled magnificently."

On his partnership with Dhawan: "We've played a lot of cricket together. We understand each other quite well - except the first ball when there was a bit of a mix up! Then we started batting well together.

"We know the quality of Shikhar and what he brings for us. It was good to be out there with him to finish it off."

More from Jos Buttler on TMS: "I won't be panicking. If we do that it is never going to help us. In the last seven years our batting has been our super strength in ODI cricket and the guys in the teams are some of the best players to ever play the format for England so we don't want to panic, but one thing we must pride ourselves on is learning and if we're faced with similar conditions on Thursday, how can we come through it better?

"It will be on an individual basis but as a team we talk about being positive and proactive but did the conditions really allow us to counter-attack today? I don't really think it did, so can you sit in and absorb pressure and come through it and bat ugly and come out the other end. Maybe we need to add that side, but I'm certainly open to both ways of doing it."

England captain Jos Buttler on Test Match Special: "We have to try and analyse it as quickly as we can and learn as much as we can from it. It is obvious that there was a little bit in the wicket and India exploited that brilliantly. I thought Jasprit Bumrah was outstanding and these are the conditions that are toughest for us as a team and we have to find a way to counteract that.

"I thought we were undone by some fantastic bowling. Three of the top four are in the best form of their life, having played some fantastic Test cricket, and they are getting out on the wicket. Credit to India.

"There was definitely more in the wicket and more movement than we expected. There was tennis-ball bounce and the ball was moving sideways but that being said if we come up against conditions we need to think about how we can come through that and maybe only lose three wickets, rather than five wickets. It might be that we come up against that in a World Cup semi-final so if are going to become a very complete team we have to find ways to counteract that."

England will just have to figure out if it was the toss, the Indian bowlers or whether they could have done a bit more in the first 10 overs, which pretty much won the game, could they have done something different to either put the pressure back on India or soak it up.

You never know but 250 could perhaps have been a challenge on that wicket. They just have to weigh up whether that was the situation and just perform in a way they know they can on Thursday.

Jos Buttler on Jasprit Bumrah: "He's a great bowler to come up against, you want to play against the best players in the world and test yourself. He's bowled fantastically well today and got the figures he deserved."

On England's bowling: "It's never easy when you're forced to try and take wickets and you're striving for them more than you may like so your consistency isn't there. You're taking more risks than you normally would. It's frustrating for them."

I thought Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow both got good balls - it shouldn't dent their confidence. They are both world-class players.

England captain Jos Buttler: "It's a very tough day, we really came third in a two-horse race. It's tough to take but we've got to dust ourselves down for the game at Lord's on Thursday."

On the conditions: "We were a little bit surprised, we thought it might swing a little bit for half an hour and we'd have to get through that and then it would become a good batting wicket.

"I thought India exposed the conditions fantastically, in the T20 series and now in this first ODI they've bowled superbly in the powerplays and that is something that we have to address."

On whether England could have changed their approach: "I'm not sure, to be honest. That's something we'll have to discuss but you've got some guys who are in the form of their life there, coming in from playing Test cricket and getting nicked off.

"It's obviously tough conditions if those guys are finding the edge as well."

England will just have to tear this up and forget about it. They do have quite a few players - particularly in the top order - who haven't played much white-ball cricket and certainly not together since the World Cup in 2019. That could be part of the reason.

The last time England lost by 10 wickets was the 2011 World Cup quarter-final against Sri Lanka.

That photo will be from one of Rohit's numerous pulls for six. One of which took him to his half-century. He likes to take on the short ball and England were only to happy to oblige.

The toss was a great one to win. Jasprit Bumrah was magnificent but I would just park it if I was England.

The fortunate thing is that there is a game in two days. They don't have to dwell on it for too long. They can get to Lord's on Thursday and hopefully start afresh.

There is not much you can take out of this game if you're England. This is an aberration. The only concern they might have is over Jason Roy.

It is England's sixth defeat by 10 wickets.

There were 188 balls left and they've only had two 10-wicket defeats with more balls left. They were both in 2003: away in Sydney, Australia and in Dambulla, Sri Lanka.

This is their heaviest defeat at home when batting first.

It was all about the bowlers for India, though. In particular, Jasprit Bumrah. He took career-best ODI figures of 6-19 as England were skittled for 110.

England bowlers tried to get something out of it but I think Brydon Carse might contemplate not bowling anymore bouncers at Rohit Sharma.
