  1. That's all, folks!published at 21:19 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

Well, the rain kept everyone waiting for a while in Manchester but there was no shortage of excitement once the game did get underway!

England might not have been sure they had enough after being bowled out 201 in the last of their 29 overs but a stunning bowling performance ensured that was more than enough.

South Africa were 6-4 before being skittled for 83 - their second joint-lowest ODI total against England - and the series is level at 1-1.

I'll leave you with Callum Matthews' superb report on a superb win for England.

You can watch highlights from 23:05 BST on BBC Two and iPlayer.

It's on to Headingley for the decider on Sunday. We'll be back for that one - be sure to join us!

Sam Curran was named player of the match after an impressive all-round display.

He hit a valuable 35 from 18 balls with the bat and then claimed 1-5 from his two overs with the ball.

It really was a fantastic bowling effort from England - as you might expect with South Africa rolled for 83!

Jos Buttler played his part behind the stumps, with a fantastic run out and a stumping as well.

  4. More from Jos Buttler...published at 21:08 British Summer Time 22 July 2022

On England's bowling: "The guys are bowling brilliantly. Topley coming back in and getting early wickets, Dave [Willey] doing the same.

"We spoke at the break and Jonny [Bairstow] said he didn't feel it was that easy to bat in the powerplay so if we could bowl a good length, we'd make it tough for them."

On the series decider: "I just want us to continue on that path that we're on and play that positive brand of cricket - but we can do it better. We haven't fired with the bat in our whole white-ball summer and we know how dangerous we'll be when we do that."

Liam Livingstone, speaking to Sky Sports: "We had to scrap hard with the bat but the opening bowlers were brilliant. Then Moeen and Rash, with a wet ball... It is a satisfying win.

"We want to take the game on and play exciting brand of cricket but sometimes have to lay a platform. Sammy [Curran] came in and played beautifully from ball one. We got up to a score that we had the chance of defending."

England captain Jos Buttler: "It feels great, it's great for us to get the win. I'm delighted how we came out with the ball and those early wickets really put us on our way.

"It's paramount and I think we saw that today, guys continue to try and play in the fashion that we want to as a team. Can we do it better? Absolutely.

"But that positivity gets us up to a score that now looks like a great score. We know that we can improve, but that will consistently be the message.

"I want guys to back themselves and take risks, a lot of the time it doesn't feel like a feel. We're trying to impose ourselves on the opposition, we're trying to put pressure back on them. Even when conditions are tricky, we can get them off their lengths.

"There are a lot of ways to do that but I want them to stay positive."

A good team will win when not at their best. That was not England's best batting performance but there was some exciting stuff in there like Livingstone and Curran.

In a good team you need your opening bowlers to stand-up. Hats off to them.

South Africa captain Keshav Maharaj: "I thought that it was a score that could be chased on that wicket. We just didn't adapt well enough with the bat, there were a lot of soft wickets and when you lose four wickets in the powerplay it's hard to adapt.

"You can question some of the dismissals but it's back to the drawing board and get ready for the next one.

"I thoroughly enjoy captaining the side, it gives me a different perspective on the game."

Adil Rashid ended with 3-29 from his six overs and Keshav Maharaj got himself in a real tangle trying to keep this one out. Spoiler: he did not succeed.

It was ruthless from England. Topley and Willey with the new ball, the fielding - England were really on it.

We all thought England were under par but the way they came out and bowled, especially Willey and Topley, killed the game off.

    Nortje c Bairstow b Moeen 6 (83 all out)

It's all over now! England level the series after a brilliant bowling display.

Nortje hit the ball high, back down the ground but it didn't have the distance and Jonny Bairstow takes the catch at long-on. He gives a fist pump to the crowd.

Reports of the demise of this England white-ball side may have been greatly exaggerated...

Good review from Shamsi, he knew he'd hit it and UltraEdge shows a little feather of a nick.

We do now, officially, have a game.

That could be that for South Africa. Shamsi is given out lbw.

He reviews instantly, though. Was there an inside edge?

I played with Shamsi in the Hundred last year and he is someone who does not rate his batting.

It will be interesting to see how he goes about it.

Get him up the order! Shamsi thumps the ball back over Rashid's head for four, lovely strike.

I am not the best better myself but that is one of the worst innings I have seen from Ngidi.

Moeen hasn't turned a ball and he missed three or four in the last over. He was in the wrong postcode.

That's nine! Very, very, very tame from Lungi Ngidi.

It's a third for Adil Rashid as he takes just about the simplest return catch he'll get. A gentle chip back to him from Ngidi.

    England are one away.

The worm shows South Africa are 36 runs behind England. South Africa are 76 for 8 after 19 overs. At the same stage England were 112 for 6.
