    Ebony Rainford-Brent
Former England batter on BBC Test Match Special

Jason Roy just needs to wait a little while and try to time it. I suppose his strength - going at the ball hard - is also his weakness. It feels like his little stint as a Test player when he was going at the ball with hard hands.

  2. Eng 56-2published at 6.3 overs

Spin from both ends as the brilliant Tabraiz Shamsi is brought on. Three balls and three singles for England.

  3. Eng 53-2published at 6 overs

Moeen Ali is the new man in and clips his first delivery off the hips for four.

The required rates is above 11 for England.

    Carlos Brathwaite
West Indies all-rounder on Test Match Special

The funniest part of that was De Kock looking to his fielders not knowing where the ball was, only to realise it was directly above him.

    Malan c De Kock b Maharaj 5 (Eng 48-2)

Dawid Malan goes for another hoick and this time sends it straight up in the air. The easiest of catches for Quinton de Kock behind the stumps.

These are dangerous moments for England. Dawid Malan has a good T20 average but can take a while to go get going. At the other end in Jason Roy they have an opener who is not in the best of sorts. There's a danger they could fall behind the rate.

  7. Eng 48-1published at 5.3 overs

Time for spin as Keshav Maharaj turns his arm.

An out-of-sorts Roy is searching for runs but is still struggling to find any timing. Malan, on the other hand, looks more at ease as he sweeps the spinner for four.

    BBC Test Match Special

There was element of something has to give. It wasn't a particularly elegant shot from Jason Roy but it's got him four. He's been struggling but is trying to find a way.

  9. Eng 43-1published at 5 overs

My words did the trick. Jason Roy hoicks it down to mid-on for a one-bounce four.

Another dot ball from Rabada - this time it bounces sharply into Malan's midriff.

    Just six from the over.

    Carlos Brathwaite
West Indies all-rounder on Test Match Special

Dawid Malan is a versatile batter. He can play the anchor role, but also show intent. He's not got too many balls to find his feet here.

  11. Eng 38-1published at 4.3 overs

Malan is off the mark with a single off Lungi Ngidi.

The seamer then varies his pace well, deceiving Roy with two slower balls. The opener is on seven from 12 balls. He's struggling a bit.

England could do with an innings, or two, like this one.

  13. Eng 37-1published at 4 overs

    Target 208

Dawid Malan is the new man in as an eventful Phehlukwayo over ends with two dot balls.

We knew this was going to be an eventful over! The first time Andile Phehlukwayo actually bowled to the right field he was able to get his man.

Jos Buttler skies it, and that is a big blow.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.4 overs

    Buttler c Hendricks b Phehlukwayo 29 (Eng 37-1)

Having just smashed 16 runs from the first three deliveries, Jos Buttler's day comes to an end. It's one hit too many as a leading edge sends it high but not far. A smart grab from Reeza Hendricks. It was in the air for what seemed like forever.

  17. Eng 37-0published at 3.3 overs

Four more! Clobbered down to long-off. Sensational hitting from Buttler.

    Simon Mann
    BBC Test Match Special

That first six was one of those cross-bat shots, almost baseball style from Jos Buttler. Andile Phehlukwayo looks very hittable during the powerplay.

  19. 6 runs

    Eng 33-0published at 3.2 overs

And again! Hit in the same way, to the same place. Terrific from the England captain.

  20. 6 runs

    Eng 27-0published at 3.1 overs

Jos Buttler welcomes Andile Phehlukwayo into the attack by standing his ground and smashing it back over the bowler's head for six.
