It looked like an outside edge but there was an exaggerated movement off the surface. It was a really good take from Jos Buttler.

There's been three boundaries so far and two have been off the inside edge. That just tells you everything about the conditions here.
My days. That is some serious movement. David Willey squares Reeza Hendricks up with one that jags past his outside edge.
Jos Buttler was starting to go down the leg side before flying across to claim excellently.
Rilee Rossouw picks up three with a gorgeous punch through the covers before Hendricks picks up another fortuitous four with a bottom edge past short fine leg and away to the fence.

South Africa can't get it off the square at the moment. They certainly can't find the middle of the bat.

Rossouw doesn't want England to dominate, bowling dot ball after dot ball, so he forced that shot a little bit.
A stroke of luck for South Africa and Reeza Hendricks as an inside edge goes over his stumps and away to the fine leg boundary.
There is definitely a little bit of movement for England at the moment.
Reece Topley drops a little bit short and Rilee Rossouw shovels through mid-wicket for his first boundary. Nice pick-up that.

There is no doubt that wicket of Rilee Rossouw would have been a gamechanger, but England have set the tone.
Rilee Rossouw is going to be a big wicket for England.
He made 96 not out in the second game and that came after he scored 623 runs, at an average of 47.92, in the T20 Blast for Somerset.

It was much closer than we thought.
SA 0-1
Oh! That is close.
It wasn't going down - it was going over leg stump by an inch or so.
A wicket maiden to start from David Willey though. A brilliant one for England.
There's definitely no bat but it hits Rilee Rossouw on the flap of the pad.

It looked like it was going down leg.
A HUGE appeal for lbw against Rilee Rossouw to end the over.
After a conversation Jos Buttler opts to send it upstairs.
Too high maybe?

That's one of those wickets that every team wants. He took his back leg away from himself and it messed up his balance. He got himself in a poor position.
De Kock b Willey 0 (SA 0-1)
Dragged on! The perfect start for England!
After two dot balls Quinton de Kock's eyes light up at a hint of width. He tries to cut away, but really the ball isn't there to do that, and the inside edge cannons into leg stump.
That's a big blow for South Africa.

De Kock has not had the chance to have that big innings. One of those games, as he so often has, where he stamps his authority. Every fast bowler I've spoken to says they hate bowling to him.
It will be David Willey, back into the side today, with the new ball.

I think the weather is going to hold. There were a couple of sprinkles earlier but I think we'll be good.
After today England have just 10 games until the World Cup.
They will play seven in Pakistan in late September/early October before three against Australia.
They'll want to start refining their team and style soon.
