That's us done for today and the series. It hasn't gone England's way and there is a lot of work to do ahead of the T20 World Cup.

South Africa captain David Miller: "It is a privilege to play 100 caps for your country and to top it off with a performance like today from the boys was just phenomenal.

"Rilee [Rossouw] and Reeza [Hendricks] batted superbly up top, on what was a difficult wicket, and that held us together and got us off to a great start. The batters showed good intent and ran hard throughout.

"We quickly forget about the first game and it was a good comeback. It was good bounce back ability to level the series and to finish it off today was phenomenal. You often judge a team by their fielding performance and we pride ourselves on that.

"We have come on leaps and bounds in the last 18 months and we've learnt a lot. The character the guys are showing and the way they are putting their hands up in key moments is what we want."

In case you missed it, here's another chance to watch this outrageous catch from 21-year-old Tristan Stubbs.

  4. 'We lacked intent and confidence'published at 18:23 British Summer Time 31 July 2022

England captain Jos Buttler: "I thought it was a really good score on the board but I still had confidence in the group. We like to try and challenge ourselves with the bat but the way we played, the way we went down, is the most disappointing thing.

"We lacked intent and confidence and didn't manage to put the opposition under pressure. We never able to wrestle the initiative.

"We've gone through change as a team. There's a change of leadership and personnel. It's not for the lack of trying, we just haven't performed as we'd like to as a group. We have to just go back and reflect. There's a huge competition on the way."

Jason Roy's lack of form is a serious concern. Once again, he struggled for any rhythm.

Player of the series Reeza Hendricks: "I am very happy with my performances and I'm happy to contribute. I think it has been a very good team performance in the series with Aiden [Markram] supporting me today and Rilee [Rossouw] in the last game.

"I want to try and go out there and score runs and there is depth in the squad and there are guys on the sidelines that have the quality to do well. The competition is massive so you always want to do well when you step on the field and stamp your mark.

"It wasn't easy early on but we had those partnerships to get us going and I felt 190 was a competitive score."

There is definitely a subplot now with The Hundred, with guys trying to solidify their place and guys trying to force their way in.

I imagine there will be some rotation in the Pakistan tour because seven games is a long tour in T20 cricket.

Man of the match Tabraiz Shamsi: "I really enjoyed myself today but huge credit to the batsmen. They put on an above par score and also the guys who bowled before me.

"Before I came to the game, my wife casually said she wants four wickets. And I looked at her to say as if you can just buy wickets at a supermarket. That's why I was a bit more animated [with celebrations] today."

Moeen Ali, who has been named the international T20 player of the summer - which includes the India series: "It's been decent. I've been playing quite well in T20s for a while. But it's been a disappointing summer for the team and that's more important."

It was an off day with the ball today. Apart from David Willey the bowling unit would have been walking off disappointed.

You have to give credit to Aiden Markram and David Miller, they played some really strong and unique shots.

I feel the whole white-ball summer that the bowling unit has been pretty good, particularly the pace balls.

There are a lot of good young English batters and they'll want to use The Hundred as an opportunity to maybe get into this England T20 side.

England have been completely outplayed in the final two games of the series. They finish the summer without a white-ball series victory. For the first time, they lose three consecutive T20 series.

Jos Buttler's team have just 10 games until the World Cup. They will play seven in Pakistan in late September/early October before three against Australia.

I'm not sure many people will have expected that today - this match was not much of a contest.

England bowled well in the first 10 overs but from then on, it was all South Africa.

There will be some concerns in the England dressing room. They've failed to win a white-ball series all summer.

    It's all over.

Jonny Bairstow top edges a sweep. It goes high but not far as David Miller runs in from deep mid-wicket and takes the catch.

South Africa win the game by 90 runs and complete a 2-1 series victory.

On current evidence, England have zero chance in the next T20 World Cup. Really dispiriting.

Tabraiz Shamsi has five and he deserves every one of the them.

England are not just losing this match, they are being absolutely marmalised.
