I think the weather has got better, a blue sky in Manchester is unusual. For me, it was a strange decision at the toss. I also think the way England play their cricket nowadays, they are better off chasing.
In case you missed it from a little earlier, James Anderson was on hat-trick. He's never actually taken one in Test cricket, and couldn't quite manage it on his home ground bowling from the end which bears his name.
Only ever taken one* myself, Jimmy. In El Salvador, of all places.
(*Not a Test hat-trick)
Gracias Sam. Just been debating England's bowling tactics against South Africa's tail end. Apparently, the performance analysis stats back up the approach.
I know cricket lives in a stats wonderland. However, I cannot help but feel sometimes there's a little too much emphasis on that, as opposed to what is unfolding in the middle.
Nail on the head, Richard, from an England perspective. Two quick wickets after tea and it'll be all smiles for Ben Stokes and his team. If South Africa can get up towards 200, less so.
I'm going to join the players in grabbing some tea so I'll hand you over to Timothy Abraham to take you through the first part of the evening session.

Richard Haines: Usual frustrating tailend partnership but you’d obviously take the score. Just don’t want to give them any momentum.
Nortje 10, Rabada 32
A maiden to end the session with Rabada content to block his way through. A tentative shot last ball i nearly his undoing though as Leach slides the ball just past the outside edge.
England still in the driving seat but this ninth-wicket partnership between Rabada and Nortje is now worth 35 and they'll be keen to break it quickly after tea.

Ben Stokes called mid-on and mid-wicket up the field. This is where you field when you first start playing cricket.
Jack Leach will bowl the last over before tea.

Rabada is defending in such a nonchalant way. He's just guiding it through easily and it takes him closer to that maiden first-class half-century.

Nortje 10, Rabada 32
The concern for England at the moment is that both Rabada and Nortje seem entirely untroubled. Full or short, seam or spin, the two South African lower-order batters are looking comfortable.
It's not ideal now but it bodes well if they can snare these last couple of wickets quickly.

Andrew Dowdeswell: Never supported South Africa's lower order as much today with day four tickets.

Every run that passes now, every run that takes them closer to 200 will give the bowlers so much when they come out.
As a bowler, you would love to bat in this situation.
Nortje is growing in confidence and gets two with a delicate paddle sweep off Leach.
He is playing around his front pad, though, so Leach has a very clear target. So far, though, the batter is getting willow to leather where necessary.

This is the advantage of the short ball, the feet don't move. It was just three to four inches in front of Pope.
Close. But not close enough. A back of a length delivery from Stokes, Nortje gets a thick inside edge onto his front pad and the ball shoots out towards short leg.
Ollie Pope dives forward but the ball falls just short of him.

Stokes has just raised his arms to show it was going over the stumps. It did scurry him, though.
England are struggling to mop up this tail.
Nortje 8, Rabada 30
Rabada shows restraint in waiting until Leach's second ball before trying to get after the spinner. It's a big slog-sweep but not timed and it bounces well short of the fielder at deep backward square.
Leach then raps Nortje on the pad, there is a sizeable appeal but England opt against a review. It hurried the right-hander but it looked a little bit high. Not out.
