South Africa captain Dean Elgar speaking to Sky Sports: "Crazy game. I guess that's what Test cricket is. England were far better than us to the last three days so I have to give it to them
"Definitely there are a lot of learnings out of this even though the result didn't go our way. We've got a lot of days to the next Test so we're going back the drawing board.
"We played a little better in the afternoon phase, not perfect at the moment but we are getting there.
"Cricket is such a funny thing. I think England batted well. The game is small margins at the moment and we're playing against a side that doesn't give you much.
"Rassie Van der Dussen has got a fracture in the finger. He will be ruled out of the series. Bit unfortunate not having him around.
"No doubt we can bounce back. it sets up for a game. Two great teams playing at the Oval."

South Africa captain Dean Elgar on TMS: "It was a reality check for us and we lost it in the first innings. You need runs in Test cricket. We were way short.
"I had a feeling that the sun might come out on day one and it did but we were already five wickets down and behind the game. It was a massive ask for our middle and lower order but it was a good wicket, a good battle between bat and ball.
"I got a good ball but that happens against these bowlers who have been about for donkey's years. It's all set up for the third Test, two proud nations and a great stadium."

England bowler James Anderson on TMS: "It's been a hard few days - we had to work really hard on that pitch. We put the ball in the right areas and with the bat we had to graft through some tricky periods. Zak Crawley and Jonny Bairstow soaked up the pressure. Yes, we want to play positive cricket, but there are times we have to soak it up.
"We didn't expect to bowl them out for less than 240-odd today but it was enjoyable. We found some reverse swing. As a bowling group we absolutely loved it.
"Every time I play cricket it could be the last so I just enjoy the experience. We have had a shift in mindsight, I could retire tomorrow and be delighted but I'm not!
"Ollie Robinson bowled brilliantly. He could have had more wickets in the first innings and he got better and better."
Jimmy Anderson, currently chatting to Aggers, sounds like a man who is genuinely thrilled to have two days off.

Ben Stokes seems like the guy who lets people go out and express themselves, he makes the difference in every aspect of the game. He has taken that into his captaincy.
James Anderson, who has just finished speaking to BBC Sport, is being serenaded by the remaining crowd.
England captain and player of the match Ben Stokes on TMS: "Amazing. It was set up wonderfully by the way we played in the first innings and we just flew in and gave it our all today. One of the most impressive things was the fact we never let up.
"My long spell of bowling, I was looking at when we got the new ball and it was reversing nicely so I didn't want to use Jimmy and Ollie so I just carried on. Ollie is relentless, with his height he gets natural variation.
"Ben Foakes should have been man of the match really, seven catches, a match-defining innings, he is a delight to have there."
