    Warner c Donald b Organ 17 (Hants 342 v Gloucs 179)

All over at the Ageas Bowl as Jared Warner pushes forward in defence and Aneurin Donald takes a simple catch at short leg.

Felix Organ takes the final wicket for figures of 2-23 to go with hos opening-day century and Hampshire lead by 163.

Warner and Ajeet Singh-Dale, who is left 36 not out, shared a 55-run partnership.

  2. Close of play at Old Traffordpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    Lancashire 127-0 v Warwickshire 315

So no play will be possible in the evening session at Old Trafford because of rain.

It's been a good day for Lancashire, with champions Warwickshire only able to add 42 to their overnight 273-7 as Hassan Ali (3-82) took two of the three wickets to fall.

Luke Wells (70*) and Keaton Jennings (44*) have laid the base for a substantial first-innings score by the home side - and they have plenty of batting to come, with in-form Josh Bohannon due in at three.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    D'Oliveira c Eckersley b Rushworth 41 (Worcs 142-5 v Durham 580-6 dec)

Durham have the breakthrough they wanted, but it's Chris Rushworth and not Ben Stokes who has done the trick at New Road.

In truth, that was a terrible shot by Brett D'Oliveira, trying to cut a wide ball he could barely reach, and an athletic catch by Ned Eckersley.

Ed Barnard has, though, reached 50 off 86 balls with a cover drive for four off Matty Potts.

Gloucs tail holds up Hampshirepublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    Hampshire 342 v Gloucs 177-9

This must be very frustrating for Hampshire.

Gloucestershire's Ajeet Singh-Dale and Jared Warner have registered a 50 partnership for the 10th wicket, with the former flicking James Fuller away off his hip for six to bring it up from just 67 balls.

He is 35 not out and Warner has 16.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    Taylor c Jacks b de Grandhomme 2 (Surrey 401 v Northants 126-7)

Nice catch here from Will Jacks at second slip.

Gentle away-swinger, Tom Taylor prods forward and edges into the cordon where it’s well held down low to Jacks’ left.

    Northants slipping away.

Someone needs to stay with Luke Procter, who got to fifty in 120 balls with a guide over backward point for four.

Update: Stevens has just been dismissed for 168 - it came off only 142 balls and he hit five sixes and 24 fours.

Kent will be back in Championship action next week with a home game against Surrey at Beckenham.

  7. Postpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    Glamorgan 257-4 v Leicestershire 320

Kiran Carlson has missed out on a hundred for Glamorgan in Cardiff - he has gone for 91, trapped lbw by Chris Wright.

There wasn;t a lot of foot movement as he pushed forward defensively so that may have been his undoing.

Chris Cooke is now out there with Sam Northeast, who is 79 not out and put on 182 with Carlson for the fifth wicket.

  8. Postpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    Durham 580-6 dec v Worcestershire 134-4

Man of the moment Ben Stokes is continuing to do his level best to break this stubborn stand between Brett D'Oliveira and Ed Barnard, but has now conceded his first boundary.

A thick edge by D'Oliveira ran away wide of the slips for four and Stokes now has 0-13 from his nine overs so far.

The Worcestershire skipper is 41 not out, Barnard has 43 and their stand is now worth 93.

  9. 6 runs

    Hampshire 342 v Gloucestershire 148-9

Mohammad Abbas has bowled superbly today but concedes six to Gloucestershire number 11 Ajeet Singh-Dale.

It wasn't your orthodox maximum - Dale played it into the leg-side, ran two, and the throw evaded fielder Keith Barker and ran away to the boundary.

    Gloucestershire are 194 behind.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    McManus c Curran b Clark 23 (Surrey 401 v Northants 111-6)

    Oh dear Lewis McManus.

A good little period for Northants after tea ends as he drives at Jordan Clark and meekly pops one to cover.

Three wickets for Clark and Surrey have 20 overs today to make further damage.

  11. Robinson breaks Middlesex partnershippublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    Sussex 392 v Middlesex 189-5

With Ben Stokes contemplating who might be in his first squad as England Test captain, there's a bit of good news regarding pace bowler Ollie Robinson at Hove.

He has bowled Middlesex's John Simpson for 71, ending a stand of 130 with Max Holden, and now has figures of 3-31.

It's his first game of the season after a back injury forced him to miss England's Test series in the Caribbean.

  12. 100 runs

up for Northantspublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    Surrey 401 v Northants 100-5

    Northants limp into three figures.

They still have Luke Procter out there fighting - in form after a hundred at Essex.

    He’s on 39.

But the visitors still remain 151 short of saving the follow-on.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    Amir c Dawson b Abbas 0 (Gloucestershire 124-9 v Hampshire 342)

Second baller for Mohammad Amir as Mo Abbas claims his fellow countryman as his sixth wicket.

Very good catch by Liam Dawson who takes a sharp catch off the left-hander at second slip.

    Last man is Ajeet Singh-Dale.

  15. It's Raining in Manchesterpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    Lancashire 127-0, Warwickshire 315

We now have that expected weather delay in Manchester.

After stopping for an early tea break due to bad light, the two sides are yet to return - and it's now raining.

Who could possibly have predicted that county cricket's first weather delay this week would come in Manchester.

Lancashire openers Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells have made a great start, although they still trail Warwickshire by 188.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    Lyth lbw b SJ Cook 10 (Essex 403 v Yorks 22-1)

    Alternatively…

Essex have a great change to apply their own pressure with runs on the board.

Sam Cook from round the wicket angles one in and Adam Lyth plays across his front pad and his plumb lbw.

  17. Postpublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    Essex 403 v Yorks 22-0

So with that tremendous fightback Yorkshire are not out of this game.

They took 7-100 to bowl Essex out for far fewer than they were looking at.

If Yorkshire - with Joe Root - can now do full justice to this docile pitch then they could put pressure on their hosts on the final day.

Lots to do before then though and early days for Adam Lyth and Dimuth Karunaratne.

  19. Tea at Hovepublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

    Sussex 162-4, Middlesex 392

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

An unbroken century partnership between Max Holden and John Simpson who have both reached their half centuries. That has rescued Middlesex from 45-4.

Earlier Ollie Robinson had announced his return to county cricket with the wickets of Sam Robson and Peter Handscomb.

George Garton, also making his first appearance of the season, accounted for Mark Stoneman.

This is an excellent pitch and, although Sussex are marginally ahead, this game is very much in the balance.

  20. Tea in Cardiffpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 6 May 2022

Glam 220-3, trail Leics by 100

    Ffion Wynne
BBC Sport Wales at Sophia Gardens

Glamorgan lost makeshift opener Andrew Salter for 26 shortly after the lunch break, but Kiran Carlson and Sam Northeast have since added 157 for the fourth wicket and are in complete control.

The flattest of pitches is offering very little to the bowling side but Leicestershire's bowlers have struggled for consistency and runs have flowed freely since lunch, when Glamorgan were 58-2.

Northeast has 64 and Carlson 80, and they'll be hoping to bat for the rest of the day and into tomorrow to establish a decent lead over the visitors, who will undoubtedly be dwelling on the cheap middle-order wickets that they threw away yesterday.
