  1. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 19 May 2022

    Lancashire v Essex 74-1

Nick Browne with 38 and Tom Westley on 23 have guided Essex to lunch with a second-wicket stand of 59 after the early loss of Sir Alastair Cook.

Lancashire have been tidy with the ball, but Browne, especially, and Westley have been better.

  2. Leicestershire slump continuespublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 19 May 2022

    Worcs v Leics 61-6

Just 17 years old and making his Championship debut, Rehan Ahmed tries to pull a short ball from Dillon Pennington, but his timing is way off and it flies off the toe of the bat to Ed Pollock at first slip.

The youngster's first innings lasts just seven deliveries and he is gone for a duck, with Leicestershire already in all kinds of trouble at New Road.

    Lees lbw b Roland-Jones 44 (Middlesex v Durham 81-1)

Alex Lees can't quite make it to 50 or to lunch unbeaten.

Toby Roland-Jones bends his back and strikes Lees on the knee roll and up goes the finger.

  4. Sunshine in Manchesterpublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 19 May 2022

    Lancashire v Essex 72-1

The earlier clouds have given way to some pleasant sunshine in Manchester, much to the delight of the Essex batters.

Nick Browne and Tom Westley have now put on 57 with Westley just sending a half-volley from Tom Bailey to the midwicket boundary.

Two runs to mid-wicket off Luke Procter, having run him down to third man for four earlier in the over, carries Zak Crawley to 50 from 75 balls.

It's only his second half-century of the season - his first came against Lancashire in mid-April - and Ben Compton edges the final ball of the over past second slip for four to end the over.

He is on 29 and needs one more run to reach 700 for the season.

    Notts v Derbyshire 68-3

    Brooke GuestImage source, Rex Features

Brooke Guest made 109, 138 and 77 in his last three innings for Derbyshire and he is already 31 not out in this one after two fours in the same Dane Paterson over - an exquisite cover drive and a glove down to fine leg.

Leus du Plooy is on five at the other end and Derbyshire need these two to see out the session after the loss of Billy Godleman and Wayne Madsen with the score on 41.

    Yorkshire v Warwicks 45-4

George Hill takes up the attack for Yorkshire. They would love another wicket before lunch and he almost supplies one with his second delivery which finds the inside edge of Will Rhodes' bat, but the Warwickshire skipper is able to scamper through for a couple.

    Abell b Abbas 6 (Somerset 55-3 v Hampshire)

    The captain has gone!

Tom Abell looks to block one from Mohammad Abbas but the ball bounces up and spins back towards the stumps.

Abell goes to try and kick it away but makes no contact and sees the ball kiss the stumps and the bail come off.

An unfortunate way to be out, but Hampshire won't care.

  9. Division Two updatepublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 19 May 2022

A wicket apiece for Charlie Morris and Ed Barnard for Worcestershire, where visitors Leicestershire are now 51-3.

While Alex Lees is now 38 not out at Lord's with Durham still to lose a wicket at 72-0 against Middlesex.

    Lancashire v Essex 53-1

Hassan Ali received his Lancashire cap this morning, but the Pakistan bowler goes too full and he has just been laced through the covers twice in an over by Nick Browne.

The opener is putting a high price on his wicket for his side as he moves to 31 and brings up the half century for his team.

So neither dropped catch costs Yorkshire.

Matthew Revis is rewarded - just - as Sam Hain edges to first slip where Joe Root is distracted by keeper Harry Duke moving in front of him and takes it one-handed at the second attempt.

  12. Double blow for Derbyshirepublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 19 May 2022

    Notts v Derbyshire 41-3

Leus du Plooy survives a hat-trick ball at Trent Bridge after two wickets from successive deliveries by South African paceman Dane Paterson.

Billy Godleman went for 11, caught at third slip by Lyndon James from an excellent delivery, and the next one was feathered to the keeper by Wayne Madsen - a golden duck for him.

    Northants v Kent 50-0

Zak Crawley drives Tom Taylor mid-off and calls for a single as he and Ben Compton post a half-century opening partnership from 110 balls. Very satisfactory so far for the visitors.

    Renshaw c Dawson b Holland 27 (Somerset 49-2 v Hampshire)

Matt Renshaw will be annoyed with himself for this.

The Australia batter goes for a big drive off Ian Holland, but his drive flies into the midriff of Liam Dawson at second slip. Scores of 27 don't win matches.

Hampshire suddenly with their tails up.

    Yates c Duke b Patterson 3 (Yorkshire v Warwicks 41-3)

    Steven PattersonImage source, Rex Features

Following those two dropped catches, Yorkshire finally hang onto one - but it was easy for keeper Harry Duke after the ball from Steven Patterson nibbled away off the seam.

Rob Yates goes cheaply as Yorkshire claim their first bowling point and Will Rhodes is the new Warwickshire batter.

    Northants v Kent 48-0

Back to back boundaries for Zak Crawley, one to square leg and one through the covers, as Matt Kelly pays the price for inconsistency..

He is 32 not out and England supremo Rob Key would love him to make a big score here, having kept faith with him for the opening Test against New Zealand in two weeks' time.

Easy pickings for Ben Compton as Tom Taylor strays onto leg stump and the left-hander flicks it down to fine leg for four. He advances to 16 not out.

Durham have advanced to 46-0 at Lord's against Middlesex, where Michael Jones has hit four fours.

While at New Road, Leicestershire are 44-1 as they recover from the early loss of Hassan Azad against Worcestershire.

Was that another one? It looks like it.
