  1. Postpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Surrey v Essex 142-6

Adam Rossington squirts Tom Lawes behind point - he wasn't in complete control of that - but it brings up the fifty stand with Simon Harmer.

    Fifty crucial runs for Essex.

  2. wicket

WICKET Henry c sub b Brookes 34published at 14:44 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Warwickshire v Kent 164-8

Matt Henry's batting can be described as being there for a good time, not a long time.

He tries to hit Henry Brookes into the Hollies Stand, but he picks out the man on the deep mid-wicket fence and that is the eighth wicket down.

The Kiwi made 34 off 22 balls - more suited to the T20 Finals day played here on Saturday.

  3. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Surrey v Essex 134-6

So, no more wickets for Surrey in the hour after lunch.

Adam Rossington and Simon Harmer are doing a grand job to rebuild for Essex.

  4. Henry back for Kentpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Warwickshire v Kent 158-7

Matt Henry is back on duty for Kent in this game.

The New Zealand fast bowler might have thought that he would have a day in the dressing room but he is pressed into service with the bat.

So far, it has been an enjoyable cameo with 28 off 17 balls, with two sixes.

  5. Taunton inspection at 14:45 BSTpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Somerset 99-2 v Yorkshire

The rain has stopped in the West Country and so the umpires will take a look in around 10 minutes.

I'd be surprised if they get any play before tea though, a lot of rain fell over the past hour or so.

  6. Postpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Northants 100-4 v Lancashire

A nice stroke through the covers from Ryan Rickelton brings up the 100 for Northants.

Rickelton is a man in form. The South Africa batter has scored centuries in his two previous Championship games.

  7. wicket

WICKET Holland lbw b Chappell 48published at 14:23 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 117-1

    The breakthrough for Gloucestershire.

Zak Chappell is the man to do it, as he pins Ian Holland in front. Umpire Nick Cook takes his time, but his answer is the one Glos needed.

    Good start for Hampshire, though.

  8. Postpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Surrey v Essex 115-6

This is gutsy stuff from Adam Rossington and Simon Harmer who've survived for 40 minutes since lunch.

Will Surrey start to toil in the heat?

  9. wicket

WICKET Billings c Burgess b Brookes 33published at 14:20 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Warwickshire v Kent 131-7

Henry Brookes ends the Ollie Hannon-Dalby show!

Kent captain Sam Billings, feeling he needs to play some shots with the lower order, tries a force off the back foot, but it gets up on him and he edges it to Michael Burgess.

The match is flying along at Edgbaston.

  10. rain stops play

No play at Tauntonpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Somerset 99-2 v Yorkshire

It's still raining heavily at Taunton.

They could be in for some delay.

  11. wicket

WICKET Gay c Jones b Williams 35published at 14:10 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Northants 81-4 v Lancashire

Emilio Gay was becalmed after lunch with just three runs in 45 minutes and impatience has got the better of him.

A little bit of width but his drive flashes to Rob Jones at second slip off Will Williams and it's a second fine catch today from Jones.

  12. wicket

    WICKET Cox c Burgess b Hannon-Dalby 48published at 14:05 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Warwickshire v Kent 115-6

More brilliant stuff from Ollie Hannon-Dalby as he continues his one-man destruction of this Kent innings.

He gets one to lift and move away slightly, catching the edge of Jordan Cox's bat.

A sixth wicket stand of 72 is ended and OHD's figure are now 6-25.

  13. wicket

WICKET Procter lbw b Williams 19published at 14:02 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Northants 78-3 v Lancashire

Luke Procter tries to work Will Williams to leg, misses and is given out LBW.

With Williams coming round the wicket to the left-hander, I wondered if it was sliding down, but it was good enough for the umpire.

A good reward for Lancashire for some very accurate bowling since lunch.

  14. Division Two latestpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

Leaders Notts are absolutely flying against Derbyshire.

Haseeb Hameed (74 not out) and Ben Duckett (42 not out) have taken the visitors to 138-1.

Still just the one wicket for Middlesex after choosing to bowl against Sussex at Lord's. Sussex are 86-1 with Tom Clark and Tom Alsop both in the 30s.

  15. Postpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Surrey v Essex 108-6

SO close to a seventh wicket for Surrey.

Jamie Overton gets one to rear up at Adam Rossington and the Essex wicketkeeper fends it awkwardly just over the head of third slip.

Great pace bowling from the England man.

  16. Hundred up for Hampshirepublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 102-0

Ian Holland cracks one away through the covers and that is the 100 partnership up for Hampshire.

This has been as comfortable as batting ever gets at Cheltenham.

  17. Postpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Warwickshire v Kent 105-5

Four for captain Sam Billings brings up the 100 for Kent. The problem is the loss of five wickets.

Next ball, no more than a push flies past mid-on for four more. The outfield is lightning and the pitch appears to be settling down after that first hour of madness.

  18. OHD after lunch for Warwickspublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Warwickshire v Kent 96-5

Ollie Hannon-Dalby was the star of the morning's cricket.

Now after a 40-minute sitdown, he has been thrown the ball by captain Will Rhodes. Just two singles from his first two overs.

He has now has 5-17 from his nine overs.

  19. Postpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Surrey v Essex 92-6

Definitely no rain at The Oval where it's still scorching.

And Essex are in all sorts of bother with the bat.

Adam Rossington and Simon Harmer have resumed after lunch hoping to dig the visitors out of a hole.

  20. Postpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 19 July 2022

    Northants 75-2 v Lancashire

Emilio Gay and former Lancashire batter Luke Procter have resumed at Wantage Road with Tom Bailey and Luke Wood sharing the bowling.

Tight stuff, with just 12 runs in half a dozen overs.
