WICKETpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Higgins c Young b Taylor 17 (Glos 317 & 189-6 v Northants 479)

Terrific one-handed slip catch by Will Young!

The Northamptonshire skipper flings himself to his left to take an edge from Ryan Higgins off Tom Taylor and achieve the breakthrough.

Three wickets now for Taylor in this innings and Gloucestershire's lead is a modest 27.

  4. wicket

WICKETS AT NEW ROADpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Worcs 164-7 (target 289) v Derbys

And, in the space of three balls, the pendulum swings firmly back towards Derbyshire.

Anuj Dal strikes twice in quick succession, trapping Jack Haynes leg before for 45 and following up with the wicket of Joe Leach, caught at cover for a duck.

Worcestershire still need 125, with just three wickets standing.

  5. Division Two round-uppublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

Now then, could there be a final-day twist at New Road?

Derbyshire began the day as firm favourites, but Jack Haynes and Gareth Roderick have built a partnership of 90 to steer Worcestershire to 162-5 - needing another 127 for victory.

At Chester-le-Street, Durham have dismissed Middlesex for 455, with Tom Helm hitting 51 to give the visitors a first-innings lead of 34.

Sussex have reached 24-1 at Trent Bridge, chasing 399 to beat Nottinghamshire, with Tom Clark the man to depart, caught behind off Luke Fletcher.

  6. LANCASHIRE DECLARE ON 436-9published at 11:57 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 & 436-9 dec, Kent 270

Lancashire have pulled out with a lead of 311 at Old Trafford - and Rob Jones unbeaten on 65.

So Kent have been set 312 to win, with a minimum of 82 overs left in the day.

    It could prove interesting.

Lancs do not have Jimmy Anderson, Saqib Mahmood, Richard Gleeson or Matt Parkinson.

But they will have a fired-up Tom Bailey and Luke Wood.

Good opportunity for England opener Zak Crawley to rediscover his form after a so far lean summer.

  7. wicket

SURREY NEED 248 TO BEAT WARWICKSHIREpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Hannon-Dalby c McKerr b Clark 9 (Surrey 316 v Warwickshire 253 & 310)

Great tumbling catch by Conor McKerr at long leg removes last man Oliver Hannon-Dalby, who had added 17 with Liam Norwell.

Jordan Clark takes the wicket, finishing with 3-61, while Kemar Roach returns 5-72.

It means Surrey must chase 248 to win.

  8. 50 runs

Hampshire 50 comes up at Scarboroughpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Yorkshire 159 & 272, Hampshire 218 & 51-0

Almost an hour gone and they remain unparted, with the victory target of 214 now reduced to 163.

  9. wicket

    WICKET - Williams c Gilchrist b Henry 2published at 11:47 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 & 431-9, Kent 270

Will Williams becomes Matt Henry's third victim of the day.

    Lancashire now lead by 306.

They know they need to win this, to stand any chance of catching Surrey at the top, so caution has not been the watchword this morning.

  10. Postpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Glos 317 & 162-5 v Northants 479

Gloucestershire have reached their first target for today - they've drawn level without further loss and ensured Northamptonshire will have to chase some kind of target.

Graeme van Buuren has moved on to 27, with Ryan Higgins on 11.

  11. for Ollie Robinsonpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Notts 240 & 301 v Sussex 143 & 10-0

Amid the carnage at the Oval, there's been another five-wicket haul this morning, with Ollie Robinson taking the last two Nottinghamshire wickets to finish with 5-60 at Trent Bridge.

Notts were all out for 301, which means Sussex must chase down 399 if they're to pull off their second win of the season.

  12. wicket

    WICKET - Bailey c & b Henry 2published at 11:40 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

  13. for Kemar Roachpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Surrey 316 v Warwicks 253 & 293-9

The form Kemar Roach has displayed this morning, it's no surprise to see him rip out the off stump of Nathan McAndrew.

Incredible stuff - and Roach has figures of 5-64.

Warwickshire have just one wicket standing. They lead by 230.

  14. new ball

600 wickets for Chris Rushworthpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Durham 421-7 dec, Middlesex 436-8

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Chris Rushworth has just taken his 600th wicket in first-class cricket, 595 of which have been for Durham.

Not sure there's much room left on the wall of his games room to put any more memorabilia up though!

John Simpson was the man out, having failed to add to his overnight 132 when Rushworth had him caught behind off the third ball of the morning.

Simpson could have been out on 43 yesterday, but spinner Scott Borthwick couldn't hold on to a sharp return catch just a foot off the ground.

I am not really sure which way this game is going other than a draw. It's gloomy and damp, so maybe it will be a bowlers' day.

  15. wicket

Kemar Roach is really on it this morning!

Two wickets in an over, three in two overs and Warwickshire are in real trouble now.

Michael Burgess perishes to another swinging delivery that is adjudged to have been hitting leg stump.

  18. wicket

    WICKET - Lavelle c Robinson b Gilchrist 30published at 11:24 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Lancashire 145 & 410-6, Kent 270

First wicket of the day in Manchester where George Lavelle has gone for 30, bowled by Nathan Gilchrist.

Luke Wood has joined half-centurion Rob Jones, with the Lancashire lead approaching 300.

  19. Goldworthy retires hurt with concussionpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Essex 505-9 dec, Somerset 363-3 (127 overs)

One slight tweak to the batting at Chelmsford, where Lewis Goldsworthy has retired hurt overnight.

Tom Banton has replaced him as a concussion substitute.

Goldsworthy is the second Somerset man to retire hurt following Tom Abell's hamstring injury yesterday.

An untimely blow with The Hundred about to start next week.

Abell is signed up to play for last year's beaten finalists Birmingham Phoenix again.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 28 July 2022

    Hain c Foakes b Roach 96 (Surrey 316 v Warwicks 253 & 289-6)

More than a few eyebrows raised at this one!

Sam Hain followed this delivery from Kemar Roach as it swung down the leg side, but it didn't look as though he got a touch.

Hain could only look on in horror as umpire Billy Taylor raised the finger, but he has to go - and, for the second match running, he narrowly misses out on a hundred.
