  4. Play over for the day at Leicesterpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Leicestershire 97-2 v Durham

That's it for the day at Leicester.

Having been off now since just before lunch, there were concerns over the damp outfield - and umpires Tom Lungley and Chris Watts hae decided to call it off following a 4:30 inspection.

The forecast was not great anyway - and more rain was due.

    Not a huge surprise.

Disappointing for new boy Sol Budinger, after hitting an unbeaten half-century on his first-class debut, but he will resume in the morning on 63 out of Leicestershire's 97-2, looking for at least 37 more.

  5. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Northants 211-3 v Surrey

The part-time leg-spin of Cameron Steel nearly does the trick.

It's a filthy full toss which Emilio Gay looks to smash through the covers, and it's almost caught by Hashim Amla at mid-off.

The ex-South Africa batter gets two hands to it, but he can't hang on although it would have been a spectacular grab.

Gay survives, gets two more runs and is now on 128.

  6. 50 runs

for Rob Keoghpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Northants 201-3 v Surrey

Rob Keogh brings up his half century with a single off the part-time leg spin of Cameron Steel.

It's taken 92 deliveries with seven fours and is just the third in the Championship for Keogh in 2022.

    Northants 194-3 v Surrey

Three more to Emilio Gay and that is the 100 partnership with Rob Keogh.

Coming in at 94-3, Keogh has played an understated hand to Gay but he has accumulated 45.

  9. Career best for Gaypublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

Further inspection at Leicesterpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Leicestershire 97-2 v Durham

Umpires Tom Lungley and Chris Watts are about to inspect again at Leicester.

The forecast is not great, but if there is any chance to get some cricket in, they will.

They have been off now since just before lunch, delayed by a damp outfield.

  11. No spin for Surreypublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Northants 184-3 v Surrey

Not much is happening from a bowling perspective at the moment for Surrey.

They have used five bowlers but it looks a decent track for batting as Emilio Gay is demonstrating.

Not a single over of spin, yet.

Regular spinner Will Jacks will not play for them in the Championship again this season as he heads to Pakistan for England's seven T20 matches over there after impressing in The Hundred with the Oval Invincibles.

An entertaining day's play at Hove so far.

Off-spinner Jack Carson, playing his first match of the season after injury, top scored with 58, while Fynn Hudson Prentice and James Coles also made half centuries

Joe Leach was the pick of the Worcestershire attack, taking four wickets and passing 400 career first-class scalps in the process.

  19. rain stops play

Weather not great in Leicesterpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Leicestershire 97-2 v Durham

The good news from Grace Road is that it is not currently raining.

The bad news is that is due to return at about 5 o'clock.

Meanwhile, the umpires are to inspect again at 4 - but the outfield is stil damp.

Thanks to BBC Radio Leicester's Richard Rae for his succinct summing-up of the situation.

    Overall prospects: Not good.
