  1. wicket

WICKET Cooke b Bamber 52published at 14:30 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Glamorgan 165-8 v Middlesex

Just five balls later, Chris Cooke follows at Lord's.

His attempt to speed up the scoring rate comes to a sticky end as he has a go at a wide ball outside off and somehow succeeds only in steering the ball back into his stumps.

  2. wicket

WICKET Coad b Allison 17published at 14:27 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Yorkshire 123-9 v Essex

Ben Coad's stay at the crease is brief.

Ben Allison sends down a well-directed short ball, which Coad tries to fend off but manages to only divert it down on to his stumps.

Coad goes for 17 off 12 balls.

  3. wicket

WICKET Harris lbw b Higgins 13published at 14:25 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Glamorgan 165-7 v Middlesex

Middlesex old boy James Harris is next to go at Lord's after a 36-run stand with Chris Cooke.

Seven Glamorgan wickets down now. Is it time for Cooke to start playing a few shots?

  4. wicket

WICKET Cobb c Smith b Worrall 1published at 14:24 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Northants 94-3 v Surrey

A third wicket in five overs for Surrey and their first bowling point.

Dan Worrall gets in on the act as he pitches one up, gets a bit of swing and Josh Cobb edges behind where Jamie Smith makes a spectacular diving catch.

From 77-0 to 94-3, Surrey have bounced right back since play resumed.

They are now seven points behind leaders Hampshire.

  5. 50 runs

Chris Cooke reaches his fiftypublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Glamorgan 165-6 v Middlesex

Glamorgan wicketkeeper Chris Cooke reaches his half-century at Lord's as the visitors continue their fightback from their morning woes.

  6. wicket

    WICKET Abell b Hannon-Dalby 1published at 14:23 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Somerset 17-2 v Warwickshire

Play is underway again at Edgbaston - with an immediate wicket.

The two-hour plus break allowed Warwickshire's bowling attack to continue unchanged - and senior paceman Oliver Hannon-Dalby did the job second ball.

OHD was miserly in his first spell, interrupted only by the weather. And he now gets one through the defences of Somerset skipper Tom Abell.

George Bartlett is the new man in.

  7. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Yorkshire 122-8 v Essex

Ben Coad is not going to hang about with the grey skies now back and the floodlights on.

So he sends a Shane Snater delivery straight back over the bowler's head for a maximum.

Coad's tactic of trying to get some quick runs is probably a wise move.

  8. wicket

WICKET Procter c Steel b Roach 2published at 14:19 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Northants 91-2 v Surrey

Kemar Roach nearly has a second wicket as Luke Procter nibbles at one outside off stump.

But two balls later, the West Indies fast bowler does get his second.

Roach gets another one to bounce and Procter shoulders one to gully where Cameron Steel takes the catch.

  9. wicket

    WICKET Thompson c A Cook b Allison 5published at 14:10 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Yorkshire 100-8 v Essex

Jordan Thompson can hit a big ball but not on this occasion.

He tries a big drive but succeeds only in edging it straight to Sir Alastair Cook at first slip.

Ben Allison has his first wicket of the innings.

  10. wicket

WICKET Tattersall b Snater 32published at 14:06 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Yorkshire 100-7 v Essex

Bowled him. Off stump out of the ground!

No sooner had Jonny Tattersall brought up his team's 100 than he has his off stump sent flying by Shane Snater.

Tattersall was starting to look good, but the White Rose skipper is now out.

  11. Edgbaston restart at 2:15published at 14:03 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Better news in Birmingham.

Following a 1:55 inspection by umpires Neil Mallender and James Middlebrook, a restart is now expected at 2:15.

  12. wicket

WICKET Young c Patel b Roach 20published at 14:01 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Northants 77-1 v Surrey

    The breakthrough for Surrey.

Kemar Roach shows the value of extra pace as he gets one to bounce a touch higher and Will Young nicks a sharp one to second slip as he tries to force it off the back foot.

Will Surrey be able to find some more wickets this afternoon?

  13. wicket

WICKET Revis c Rossington b Snater 2published at 13:55 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Yorkshire 87-6 v Essex

Sunshine or not, it remains a bowler's day at Headingley.

A bit of in-dip from Shane Snater takes a thin edge from Matt Revis' bat and it is regulation stuff for Adam Rossington.

Snater now has two for 11, while Rossington has four catches behind the stumps.

  14. 50 runs

for Emilio Gaypublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Northants 73-0

    Emilio GayImage source, Getty Images

An excellent half-century for Emilio Gay as he hits his first ball after the resumption from Kemar Roach for three through the covers.

That is his fifth of the season in the Championship.

He will want to go on and make a second hundred, after a career-best 112 versus Kent in July.

  15. Play resumes in Northamptonpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Northants 70-0 v Surrey

We are ready to resume at Wantage Road.

After winning the toss this morning, Surrey will want to make a few inroads into the Northants batting.

Tom Curran will complete his fifth over with one ball to Northants skipper Will Young.

  16. Sun out in Leedspublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Yorkshire 79-5 v Essex

A welcome sight for the Yorkshire batters as the sun makes an appearance in Leeds.

It might offer them a sense of respite from Essex's tight bowling.

  17. wicket

    WICKET - Faheem c Haynes b Leach 2published at 13:44 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Sussex 106-7 v Worcestershire

Another wicket for Worcestershire - and a fourth for Joe Leach as he bags Faheem Ashraf cheaply.

The Pears still have promotion pretensions. And it shows.

  18. wicket

Sixth wickets go down at Lord's and Hovepublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

Sussex lose their sixth wicket against Worcestershire at Hove as Fynn Hudson-Prentice reaches his 50 and is then caught behind by Gareth Roderick off Dillon Pennington.

The host are now on 106-6, with James Coles on 29.

Same story in the fourth v second clash at Lord's where Kiran Carlson is caught behind for 36 by John Simpson to give Middlesex paceman Tim Murtagh his third wicket.

Glamorgan are on 129-6, with Chris Cooke on 29.

No play after lunch yet in the other Divison Two game at Leicester.

  19. 200 up for Sam Cookpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

    Yorkshire 72-5 v Essex

It is a special day for Sam Cook as he has now notched up 200 first-class career wickets.

Coming in 56 matches, he has an average of under 20 and at the age of 25, time is on his side to grab plenty more.

  20. rain stops play

Rain delays in the Midlandspublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 12 September 2022

It looks like the worst of the weather today is confined to the Midlands - and East Midlands.

Only three games currently have play. They're still off at Edgbaston, Northampton and Leicester.

But at least it sounds a bit more encouaraging now at Wantage Road.
