Warwickshire 220-5 (chasing 364 to beat Somerset)

Michael Burgess gone. First ball, to add to his third-ball duck in the first innings. Ouch!.

Jack Brooks is on a hat-trick. How often do his wickets come in clumps like this?

Jayant Yadav to face. But the India international sees off the hat-trick ball - and the rest of the over.

Is that the end of the Bears run chase as Somerset post another slip?

Warwickshire 220-4 (chasing 364 to beat Somerset)

  4. Postpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 426 v Surrey 421 & 30-1

Ryan Patel has helped himself to four boundaries off some very erratic bowling from Lizaad Williams.

All good for the averages. Patel is averaging 33.6 this season which is a bit of a surprise in a Surrey team whose strength is batting.

  5. 200 runs

Warwickshire bring up the 200published at 16:01 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

Warwickshire 204-3 (chasing 364 to beat Somerset)

Their fourth fifty of the innings, to bring up the 200, was 53 balls - the fastest so far.

161 needed off 27. Sam Hain and Will Rhodes have so far added 71 in 16 and a half overs.

The "You Beeeeaaarrrsss" echoing around Edgbaston are getting louder and more frequent!

  6. wicket

    WICKET Hudson-Prentice lbw b Leach 0published at 15:57 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Sussex 220 & 282-6 v Worcestershire 438-5 dec

Two wickets in two overs for Worcestershire.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice does not trouble the scorers as he is pinned in front by Joe Leach. No discussions about that one.

  7. Meandering towards a drawpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 426 v Surrey 421 & 6-1

Northants have whizzed through the first ten overs with the run out of Rory Burns the stand-out moment.

Ryan Patel has four off 34 balls and Hashim Amla is yet to score after 13 deliveries.

The game is heading for a draw. The question is whether the light forces an early finish.

  8. wicket

WICKET Carter b Pennington 55published at 15:50 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Sussex 220 & 281-5 v Worcestershire 438-5 dec

A lovely delivery from Dillon Pennington is too good for Ollie Carter as it clips the top of off stump.

  9. 50 runs

for Ollie Carterpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Sussex 220 & 276-4 v Worcestershire

Having brought up a century partnership with Tom Alsop, Ollie Carter guides one past the slips for a boundary to bring up his 50.

It has taken 83 balls and included eight fours - a fine effort to get his team a likely draw.

  10. 50 runs

Half-century stand for Hain and Rhodespublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

Warwickshire 186-3 (chasing 364 to beat Somerset)

Warwickshire are now over halfway to their total as Sam Hain and Will Rhodes hoist their 50 partnership with a leg-bye.

Hain on 28, Rhodes on 25.

178 to win. 31 overs left.

  11. new ball

New ballpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Sussex 220 & 272-4 v Worcestershire 438-5 dec

Joe Leach has a new cherry in his hand for Worcestershire.

This is a last throw of the dice for the Pears, as they seek six wickets and already trail by 58 runs. It would be fun if they gave themselves a chase.

  12. wicket

WICKET Burns run out (Sales) 1published at 15:36 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 426 v Surrey 421 & 6-1

Ryan Patel attempts a single that is not really there and Rory Burns is in trouble as James Sales swoops at midwicket.

The throw is unerring and the Surrey captain is out.

  13. Back underway in Brumpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

Warwickshire 174-3 (chasing 364 to beat Somerset)

One run off the first over after tea, but then eight off the next from Josh Davey.

    Warwickshire are still interested here.

  14. No desire to chasepublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 426 v Surrey 421 & 6-0

There have been six singles in the opening five overs.

The victory target is now 339 off 34 overs - at a rate of just under ten an over.

It feels safe to say this game is going to end in a draw.

  15. Tea at Hovepublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Sussex 220 & 259-4 v Worcestershire

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Tom Alsop's century is going a long way towards ensuring this match finishes in a draw as the players head off for a 20-minute break.

It's a fourth County Championship hundred of the season from Alsop, who has mixed solid defence with attacking shots all-round the wicket, and will now have his eyes on 1000 runs by the end of his debut season for Sussex.

Credit to Worcestershire who have never given up, but the pitch has given little encouragement to the bowlers today and their efforts will almost certainly be in vain. With Middlesex winning, the Pears' chances of promotion are now looking very slim.

  16. Surrey chasespublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 426 v Surrey 421 & 2-0

This is Surrey's sixth run-chase of the Championship season. So far this season, they have a 100% record of chasing down fourth innings targets.

    • 239-7 v Somerset (24 April, The Oval)
    • 195-7 v Somerset (15 June, Taunton)
    • 228-6 v Yorkshire (14 July, Scarborough)
    • 162-4 v Essex (22 July, The Oval)
    • 252-4 v Warwickshire (28 July, The Oval)

Rory Burns and Ryan Patel pick up a single apiece from Ben Sanderson's opening over. Not too much intent for a blast there.

    Northants 339 & 426 v Surrey 421

The early tea break has given an extra two overs to this Surrey innings.

They will have a possible 39 overs to score 345, at a rate of 8.84 runs per over.

Rory Burns and Ryan Patel have come out to begin the chase.

  19. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 340-7 dec, Warwickshire 196 & 165-3

Now then. Time to reflect over a cup of tea and a few energy bars. Maybe even a slice of fruitcake?

Can the Bears do this? 199 still needed to win, off 35 overs.

Can Somerset's bowlers find some inspiration? Seven wickets required.

Or will this game end in the draw we all predicted at the start of the day?

Bears top run scorer Sam Hain is on 22. Skipper Will Rhodes is on 13.

And they still have big-hitting Michael Burgess to come.

    Stlll 'Game On' for now.

  20. 6 runs

Hain and Rhodes swap sixespublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

Warwickshire 165-3 (chasing 364 to beat Somerset)

Sam Hain hits only his third six of the seaon to keep the Bears rolling along at the required five an over rate - and Will Rhodes takes the lead and follows, with a slog sweep over the legside boundary.

Maybe Alex Davies and Dom Sibley were just the warm-up act.

The victory target is now down below 200.
