  1. Northants bring up 300published at 11:59 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 303-6 v Surrey 421

James Sales punches another four off the back foot from Kemar Roach to take Northants' second innings up over 300.

The pitch is holding up well, which would give Surrey confidence of any potential chase.

  2. wicket

WICKET - Yates lbw b Sajid Khan 11published at 11:55 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

Warwickshire 30-1, set 364 to beat Somerset

Sajid Khan wins an LBW decision to make a breakthrough for Somerset - and earn the Pakistan spinner his first wicket of the match.

Rob Yates is done by his faster ball - and his poor run of scores goes on.

Alex Davies is the new man in. Invariably a man who goes for his shots, in whatever code he's playing.

  3. Postpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 299-6 v Surrey 421

New batter James 'Jumble' Sales crunches a Kemar Roach delivery away for four.

Northants are really fighting hard here. This is proper, tough red-ball cricket.

  4. Positive stuff from Bearspublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 340-7 dec, Warwickshire 196 & 29-0

Warwickshire are going about their work at Edgbaston in a very positve manner.

    29-0 off six overs.

Two boundaries each for Rob Yates AND Dom Sibley too!

  5. wicket

WICKET Vasconcelos lbw b Worrall 79published at 11:39 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 288-6 v Surrey 421

    The big breakthrough for Surrey.

Dan Worrall strikes in the fourth over with the new ball. He gets one to swing into the pads of Ricardo Vasconcelos and the batter is trapped LBW on leg stump.

Whether that would have missed leg we will never know and Vasconcelos' stay at the crease ends after 138 balls and a partnership of 127 with Saif Zaib.

  6. Steady start for Bearspublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 340-7 dec, Warwickshire 196 & 6-0

Two overs ticked off for Warwickshire openers Rob Yates and Dom Sibley.

And two without loss. Both runs to Yates.

And four much-scorned leg-byes follow in the next over.

  7. Postpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 287-5 v Surrey 421

Shot of the morning at Wantage Road.

Kemar Roach pitches it up, looking for a bit of swing, but it swings onto the middle of Ricardo Vasconcelos's bat and whistles through the covers for four.

Northants now lead by 205 runs and there are 78 overs left today.

  8. MIDDLESEX WIN BY 10 WICKETS AT LORD'Spublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214 & 220, Middlesex 390 & 45-0

Middlesex wrap up their expected win over promotion rivals Glamorgan at Lord's.

The Londoners, who started this week in fourth place, now go second in the table after taking just 32 balls to knock off the 45 runs needed to complete their fifth County Championship win of the season.

After an under-par display, Glamorgan, who drop to third, will look to get back on the horse next week against Derbyshire, the side directly below them, followed by a final week of the season by the seaside at Hove against Sussex.

The final two Middlesex games are both away, to winless bottom side Leicestershire next week, followed by a trip to New Road to meet a Worcestershire side who have not yet given up on promotion, especially if they can push on to beat Sussex today.

  9. wicket

WICKET Orr lbw b Gibbon 48published at 11:28 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Sussex 220 & 88-3 v Worcestershire 438-5 dec

Ali Orr had done a lot of hard work last night and this morning, but there is nothing he can do about this.

Ben Gibbon gets one to keep a little low and that is absolutely plumb.

Worcestershire will now sense an opening as Sussex still need 130 runs to make them bat again.

  10. Middlesex off to a flierpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214 & 220, Middlesex 390 & 36-0

Middlesex openers Sam Robson and Mark Stoneman are not hanging about at Lord's.

Robson is already on 25, having slapped five boundaries.

    Only nine runs needed now.

  11. new ball

New ball takenpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 276-5 v Surrey 421

No surprise here, as Kemar Roach is handed the new ball for Surrey.

Ricardo Vasconcelos and Saif Zaib have done well to add 67 runs in the 15 overs so far, but the challenge is going to get harder now.

  12. SOMERSET DECLARE AT EDGBASTONpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 340-7 dec, Warwickshire 196

Somerset declare on 340-7, with a 363-run lead.

Warwickshire now need 364 to win off 82 overs. That is a rate of about a four and a half runs an over for the Bears.

But it seems a lot more likely that they will look to bat out the day, pick up 11 points from the draw and go level on points with Kent - then see what they can get from their final two games, against bottom side Gloucestershire at Bristol and then at home to leaders Hampshire.

  13. 100 partnershippublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Northants 339 & 262-5 v Surrey 421

A no-ball from Ryan Patel is enough to bring up the century stand for the sixth wicket between Ricardo Vasconcelos and Saif Zaib.

Having come together at 161-5, they are doing an excellent job of holding up Surrey.

  14. wicket

DURHAM BEAT LEICESTERSHIRE BY SEVEN WICKETSpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Leicestershire 202 & 198 v Durham 296 & 108-3

Nic Maddinson finishes this game off with a lovely on-drive for four as he ends unbeaten on 31.

The 13 wickets of Matty Potts laid the platform for only Durham's second win in the Championship this season as they pick up 21 points.

For Leicestershire, who get four bonus points, it's an eighth defeat as they remain winless and bottom of Division Two.

  15. wicket

    WICKET - Bartlett b Briggs 111published at 11:07 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 322-7, Warwickshire 196

Another wicket for Warwickshire as Danny Briggs removes centurion George Bartlett.

Somerset have been going for their shots today, which does suggest that that are thinking about a declaration sooner rather than later.

They currently lead by 345. Almost nothing about the way Warwickshire have batted this season makes you think they would get anywhere near such a total. But Somerset want to stay safe.

  16. 50 runs

for Saif Zaibpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Northants 39 & 256-5 v Surrey 421

Saif Zaib takes a couple off the part-time bowling of Ryan Patel and it's enough to bring up a very composed half century.

A good effort, off 83 balls, in his first Championship game since early May.

  17. wicket

GLAMORGAN ALL OUT AT LORD'Spublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214 & 220, Middlesex 390

Glamorgan are bowled out for 220 second time around after an 11-ball 14-run cameo from Michael Hogan, containing two lusty boundaries.

That sets Middlesex 45 to win in this final game of the season at Lord's.

It is also tfhe final innings of Hogan's Glamorgan career. A man admittedly better known for his bowling!

  18. 100 runs

Century for George Bartlett at Edgbastonpublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 320-6, Warwickshire 196

George Bartlett reaches his sixth first-class century at Edgbaston, then celebrates with a six - the fourth of this innings.

  19. wicket

    WICKET - Rew lbw b J Yadav 22published at 10:58 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Somerset 219 & 307-6, Warwickshire 196

A second wicket of the morning at Edgbaston as Jayant Yadav wins an LBW decison to remove James Rew.

George Bartlett watches from the other end on 99.

  20. wicket

WICKET Currie b Tongue 7published at 10:57 British Summer Time 15 September 2022

    Sussex 220 & 50-2 v Worcestershire 438-5 dec

That is an emphatic way to make the breakthrough.

Josh Tongue splatters not one, but two of Brad Currie's stumps.

The night-watchman took up 20 balls and nearly 30 minutes, but he now makes way for Tom Alsop.
