  1. Postpublished at 10 overs

    Surrey 104-3 (target 156)

No boundaries as Surrey reach the half-way point of their innings, but they can afford a 'period of reflection' because of the position they are in.

Ollie Pope is 25 not out, Sunil Narine has 12 and the South Group leaders require another 52 for their seventh win in eight T20 games this season.

  2. Postpublished at 10 overs

    Northants 101-1 (Target 154) v Lancs

    No drama against Luke Wells.

Seven from the over and the home side are waltzing along like the folks at the Abington Park fun fair.

Notts Outlaws continue to put their foot to the floor as they chase a world record 262 to beat Birmingham Bears.

They've reached 106-2 off eight overs. They started needing 13 an over, and they still need 13 an over.

Yorkshire remain on top against Durham at Chester-le-Street, with the home side 72-3 in reply to the White Rose's 201-5.

Elsewhere, Leicestershire are easing towards victory over Worcestershire - they need 26 off 10 overs.

And it's finely poised at Taunton where Gloucestershire are 86-4, needing 185 to beat Somerset with 8.5 overs remaining.

  4. Postpublished at 9 overs

    Northants 94-1 (Target 154) v Lancs

Josh Cobb operating West Indies style here.

Dot, six, dot, dot, four, dot.

Northants are cantering along and a steamy Wantage Road is loving it.

  5. Postpublished at 9 overs

    Surrey 97-3 (target 156)

Sunil Narine flashes at a short ball from spinner Chris Green and the ball slips past the keeper off the outside edge for four runs.

More dodgy Middlesex fielding - this time at point - allows the dangerous Narine to jog through for a single at the end of a decent over.

  6. Postpublished at 8 overs

    Northants 84-1 (Target 154) v Lancs

Dual leg spin now with Luke Wells.

Josh Cobb hauls him away for six but it’s otherwise a better over for Lancashire with only two more singles.

But they need to strike and strike fast from here.

Asking rate only a run a ball.

  7. Postpublished at 8 overs

    Surrey 88-3 (target 156)

Sloppy work by Middlesex gifts Sunil Narine a second run and he forces Thilan W's final delivery to point for a single to end the over and keep the strike. Surrey need another 68 from 12 overs.

It has been a beautiful night here as the ground basks in the evening glow - still 27C at 8.30pm.

Surrey have dominated this one so far, as spectators are reminded again that Oval Tube station is closed for the night.

Anyone needing the Northern Line will need to head to Kennington or else head for Vauxhall for the Victoria Line or a mainline train back into Waterloo.

  9. Postpublished at 7 overs

    Northants 76-1 (Target 154) v Lancs

    Matt Parkinson into the attack.

    Nope.

Josh Cobb keeps the hammer down with two more boundaries.

Nothing to stop Northants at the moment.

  10. Postpublished at 7.4 overs

    Evans c Hollman b Walallawita 5 (Surrey 85-3 - target 156)

Thilan Walallawita is the new bowler for Middlesex (we're going to call him Thilan W) and Laurie Evans pulls him away for four.

But the spinner strikes in his opening over as Evans hits to the same area where Will Jacks perished - albeit at the opposite end - with Luke Hollman this time taking the catch.

  11. Postpublished at 6 overs

    Northants 63-1 (Target 154) v Lancs

Danny Lamb with the final over of the power play.

Josh Cobb takes the fourth and sixth balls for fours.

Another 12-run stint for the home side and that is as good as powerplay as they could have wished for.

Two more massive scores to report at the halfway stage in the two later games.

Essex have not quite matched Birmingham Bears' efforts, but they're not far off after smashing their way to a county record 244-7 from their 20 overs, with Daniel Sams top scoring with 71 off just 24 balls.

Their previous best was 242-3 set against Sussex 14 years ago.

And at the Ageas Bowl, Hampshire have posted an imposing 221-3 against Kent, the highlight being James Vince's century.

Notts Outlaws have got their reply to Birmingham Bears' 261-2 off to an absolute flier, smashing the bowlers to all parts of Trent Bridge.

But they've lost two big wickets along the way to 79-2 in the sixth over, with Alex Hales and Ben Duckett both back in the pavilion.

Joe Clarke is still motoring, with 47 off 18 balls.

    Jacks c Behrendorff b Hollman 43 (Surrey 80-2 - target 156)

Our first look at leg-spinner Luke Hollman, who produces a fine delivery which just beats the outside edge of Will Jacks' bat.

Jacks takes two to point but then tries to loft down the ground and is well taken by a sprawling Jason Behrendroff at long-off.

A vital wicket for Middlesex. Laurie Evans is next man in.

  15. Postpublished at 6 overs

    Surrey 76-1 (target 156)

Surrey are content to accumulate in the final over of the powerplay, which ends with a fielding lapse by Martin Anderssson at cover which allows an extra single for Will Jacks, who is now 40 not out.

  16. Postpublished at 5 overs

    Northants 51-1 (Target 154) v Lancs

Ben Curran comes alive with three boundaries off his old team-mate Richard Gleeson.

Another double-figure over for Northants and this is superb stuff so far.

  17. 6 runs

    Surrey 68-1 (target 156)

You can't bowl there to Ollie Pope in any format.

Jason Behrendorff overpitches and Pope strokes it away through cover in orthodox style and collects four runs.

Three come from the next ball and Will Jacks then deposits the Australian left-armer behind square for six. Superb shot.

One over left in the powerplay - Jacks has 38 and Pope is 13 not out.

    Hampshire 191-3 v Kent Spitfires

It's a fine evening for batting and we have a second century, with Hampshire captain James Vince hitting exactly 100 against Kent at the Ageas Bowl.

The England one-day batter's century came off 53 balls before he was dismissed off the next delivery he faced, after hitting nine fours and five sixes.

    Will JacksImage source, Rex Features

Will Jacks clips Tom Helm away for four and then launches the paceman over extra cover for the first maximum of the innings.

Helm digs the next one in and although Jacks doesn't seem to make the best contact with an uppercut, it has sufficient elevation to bring him another.

The 50 is up and Jacks has 30 from 12 balls.
