It's all over unfortunately for Australia. I think they've been outclassed in all facets of the game.

    Maxwell b Sodhi 28 (Aus 89-7)

Tell the Fat Lady to start going through her scales.

Glenn Maxwell departs and surely so too do Australia's hopes. He tries to reverse hack Ish Sodhi and has his leg stump pegged back.

This game isn't over but New Zealand are right in the box seat. It's really important that Australia bounce back.

  4. Aus 87-6published at 13 overs

    Target 201

Getting 200 certainly helps, but New Zealand are in such a strong position because of some superb catching.

I think you still have to believe you can still win the game. Pat Cummins has done some amazing knocks.

  6. Aus 86-6published at 12.4 overs

    Target 201

Pat Cummins is the new man. The Test skipper is more than handy with the bat.

Australia's hopes are slimming to none. Lockie Ferguson is too good.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.2 overs

    Wade c Conway b Ferguson 2 (Aus 82-6)

    Surely it's done now?

Matthew Wade (who I expect to see at the Beeb Christmas party) edges behind into the gloves of Devon Conway. Maxwell only has the bowlers for company.

  10. Aus 82-5published at 12 overs

    Target 201

Australia need 15 an over. How many is too many?

The worm shows Australia are 32 runs behind New Zealand. Australia are 82 for 5 after 12 overs. At the same stage New Zealand were 114 for 1.

It's a great battle this. Leg-spinner vs Maxwell.

  12. Aus 82-5published at 11.5 overs

    Target 201

Maxwell vs Sodhi is a good watch. Maxwell is doing all he can, swinging and heaving, but Sodhi is proving too clever.

Jason Cole: The T20 World Cup is great as we get to see the big teams take on the lesser nations. And later today it's Afghanistan versus England too.

It's good to see Matthew has arrived safely in Australia. Before he left, he asked how to go about his packing, because he worried he didn't have a month's worth of clothes.

I had to tell him that washing machines are quite common in Australia.

All eyes are on Sydney for now but the England and Afghanistan players have emerged for some light warm-ups here in Perth.

It sounds like Chris Woakes, who was a doubt with a quad injury yesterday, has pulled up well from training. He may play for England today after all.

England's campaign gets under way at 12:00 BST.

    Not too many, obviously.

How well has Mitchell Santner bowled. The fielding has been superb too.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.2 overs

    David c Neesham b Santner 11 (Aus 68-5)

Not quite the final nail, but close.

New Zealand have held everything tonight and Jimmy Neesham has taken another smart catch. Tim David is the man to go, heaving Mitchell Santner towards deep mid-wicket, where Neesham tumbles forward to take the grab. Three for Santner, Australia unravelling.

  19. Aus 62-4published at 10 overs

    Target 201

Let's say Australia lose this, possibly by a large margin. Net run-rate could be a big deal in what is a very strong group. They need 139 from 10 overs. Tough ask.

The worm shows Australia are 35 runs behind New Zealand. Australia are 62 for 4 after 10 overs. At the same stage New Zealand were 97 for 1.
