Trent Boult is getting swing and he's always dangerous when the ball is swinging. He's the kind of bowler you want against Alex Hales, bringing the ball back into him. You've always got a chance of lbw or bowled.

There's a little bit of swing for Trent Boult first up.

He cramps Jos Buttler first up, before the England skipper whips through mid-wicket for three.

Nice shot to get him up and running.

Jos Buttler and Alex Hales are striding out to the middle at the Gabba.

Both will want some runs - it's been a quiet tournament so far.

The national anthems are done in Brisbane.

No-one in the England team was really belting it out.

Play is just a few minutes away.

This is how Group 1 is shaping up ahead of this one.

New Zealand are in a good position to progress to the last four. One victory in either of their two remaining games is likely to be enough to see them through, while two wins would guarantee it.

England were displaced in the top two by Australia, but have the chance to overtake them - and potentially even go top - with a win in this game.

Two wins would practically guarantee England's progress, unless Australia beat Afghanistan by a large margin.

Jos Buttler's side have the advantage of playing last in the group so they will know exactly what they need to qualify.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson: "It is a used surface and we would have a bat as well but we'll try and make use of the damp conditions. It is important we start strong.

"We just want to focus on one game at a time and focus on those adjustments and stick to our plans.

"The team has been great and they've adjusted well to conditions. They are experienced and we'll want to use the conditions first up."

England captain Jos Buttler: "It's a used wicket, had a couple of games on it and we fancy a bat today.

"We're excited for the game, these are the type of games you want to be involved in as a player and we're looking forward to it.

"There are plenty of people raring to go, we've got lots of dangerous players in our team and we're excited for the match.

"We'll always be flexible with our order, it's an important part of trying to get the best out of our players and giving them enough time and when we play the extra batter, it gives people more of a license."

We're playing on a used pitch. This will be the fourth game on the surface.

    That could make scoring difficult.

The schedule of this tournament has been interesting to say the least.

You don't need me to tell you England do not have a good record here. Many an Ashes campaign has been ruined almost before it began on this ground.

Mitchell Starc ran in to bowl Rory Burns with the first ball of last winter's series from just in front of me. Simon Jones suffered that horrible knee injury in the outfield at the bottom right of this picture. Jonathan Trott was caught off Mitchell Johnson in the back right.

Now England must put all that behind them and resurrect their T20 World Cup campaign.

The toss is slightly delayed in Brisbane because of the earlier game just finishing.

    Morning!

This is effectively win or bust for England.

A defeat and they are likely to be on an early plane home (well, either to Pakistan or a different part of Australia for an ODI series, but you get my point).

They face an in-form New Zealand side so it isn't going to be easy.

Monday saw Australia boost their semi-final hopes as they look to become the first team to defend their T20 World Cup crown.

Today England look to get their campaign back on track after defeat by Ireland and a washout on Friday.

A defeat and they are very much clinging on - and their fate is no longer in their own hands.
