England bowler Chris Jordan on BBC Test Match Special: "I am speechless really. We won the toss and put them in and we knew we'd have to restrict them. We'd been looking at the pitch for the last couple of days and we thought it wouldn't change too much and with the dimensions of the ground we've been big on trying to assess conditions on the day of the game and not have too many preconceived ideas. They worked today. We couldn't imagine it would be with four overs to spare today, it was unbelievable hitting and they were ice cool.

"We were pretty happy with their total. As the game developed the ball started to skip on pretty nicely. The new ball did a little bit and the seam stuck in the wicket a little bit but after that the wicket played pretty well. I thought we bowled really well in the middle, but we would have liked to close it out a little bit better at the death but when you're bowling at two set batters and quality of those two that can happen from time to time. We bowled a lot of good balls that still went to the boundary. I thought out execution was pretty good."

India definitely should have tried a Mankad. Might have saved them.

More from Adil Rashid: "Yeah, very pleased [with how I bowled], but everyone in the first 10-12 overs was fantastic. We were really happy with what we restricted them to.

"The ground has long straight boundaries and short square, so you did have to mix it up, but there was a bit of turn as well. We bowled exceptionally well as a unit.

"Jos and Alex were magnificent. When they're batting like that, no one can stop them. Everything they tried was going to the boundary!

"There was no chat between the innings, we all knew our jobs and our roles. We just went out there and did our thing. It was good viewing from the dugout!"

England bowler Adil Rashid: "This feels lovely! We've still got one game to go of course, but the atmosphere was electric, the boys were amazing so one more push.

"We didn't really speak about silencing the crowd or anything like that, but we knew that if we stuck to our strengths then naturally they wouldn't be as loud and that's what happened.

"When you're in the zone out there you can block them out a bit but it was definitely very loud, but thanks to them for all coming out to watch."

India just didn't put England's spinners under pressure and they are meant to be some of the best players of spin in the world. There was no slog sweeps or coming down the pitch.

They need to work on being able to hit more sixes, especially in the first 10 overs.

They don't have the bowling attack to defend 160 against a batting line-up like England's either.

Rohit Sharma looks devastated. India's wait for a World Cup of any kind goes on. Their last one was in 2011. They haven't won the T20 since 2007. They were awful in the second half of this match.

  8. 'One of the best nights of my career'published at 11:11 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2022

Player of the match Alex Hales: "This would be right up there for me as my perfect innings. India in the semi-final, big occasion, I'm so happy with how I played, it's special.

"This is one of the best grounds to bat at in the world, it's such a good surface and you get such good value for your shots with the shorter square boundaries. It's a ground I really enjoy playing at.

"I never thought I'd play in a World Cup again so this is so special, and to do it in a country where I love playing. It's one of the best nights of my career."

India just don't play aggressive enough, times have moved on from knocking it around in the first six and being happy with 40 on the board. Unless you've got a formidable bowling attack you are not going to get away with that.

They need to find players who are willing to be more dynamic in those first six overs and willing to try and get 60 on the board.

Of all the places for England to play like that.

Adelaide, the scene of their lowest white-ball moment, the 2015 loss to Bangladesh that started all this.

Since then they have won the 50-over World Cup, reached two T20 finals, one T20 semi-final and a Champions Trophy semi.

I never doubted England, I always thought they'd win this game. I don't know how India got above England in being favourites for this game.

Coming into the competition I thought England were favourites to win the tournament.

England are a cut above India. They are not even close to this England side. There are a few changes that need to be made.

England have taught India a lesson there quite frankly, especially with the way they've batted. Yes they have some good batters but they only really have Suryakumar Yadav who plays that 'in your face' style.

Jos Buttler, England's captain, has won this semi-final in the most empathic manner.

That is the first big smile I've seen on Buttler's face. He normally has an assassin face.

It's hard to put into words quite how good they have been, or what a monstrous victory that is.

    Sensational.

It is a really outstanding win.

Can we ask India to at least bowl out the overs to give us enough match practice for the final?
