  • Out-of-form Roy falls for second-ball duck

  • Superchargers post 157-7 after being put in to bat

  1. 50 from 17 balls for Adam Lythpublished at 41 balls

    Superchargers 76-1

The fastest fifty in The Hundred! Brilliant from Lyth and it comes up in style, a cover drive nailed away to the fence.

I'd say it was fitting it came up with a boundary but that is only his second four, he's mainly dealt in sixes.

This is a tough job for Jason Roy in his first game as captain. He has hardly ever captained any match of cricket before let alone in front of a packed Oval crowd. He will be feeling the pressure now.

It is such a fast game, you have to make so many decisions. I found it more difficult to captain last year than T20s.

  3. Superchargers 72-1published at 40 balls

Lyth closes in on his half-century by cutting the ball behind square for four as Tom Curran offers up some width.

A single brings Pepper on strike and he middles a cover drive to end the over, fantastic timing and the ball rockets away to the boundary.

  4. Superchargers 62-1published at 35 balls

    Lyth 44, Pepper 9

Milnes comes back well and nearly has Pepper caught in the deep last ball. However, it just drops short of the fielder and it remains one down.

Adam Lyth is currently 44 not out from 14 balls...

Adam Lyth is a six hitting machine at the moment.

  6. Superchargers 59-1published at 32 balls

It has been a while since his last one so Lyth decides it's time to go big again!

He heaves Matt Milnes leg side and I fancy the ball went higher than it went out from the middle - it has just enough distance to clear the rope, though. Six more.

Narine is hiding the ball as he runs in. He is like a magician hiding what he has up his sleeve.

  8. Superchargers 52-1published at 30 balls

    Lyth 37, Pepper 6

Sunil Narine with his bag of tricks is on and starts with two dot balls. Pepper is not fazed, though, and sweeps the first one powerfully behind square for four.

Just a further single form the over, the Invincibles have managed to restore a bit of order since that wicket of Du Plessis.

  10. Superchargers 47-1published at 25 balls

Powerplay over after a very good set from Sam Curran, just two runs from it and a wicket.

Michael Pepper is in to join Lyth, who has struck the ball so, so cleanly thus far.

    Du Plessis c Cartwright b S Curran 9 (Superchargers 45-1)

The Invincibles needed that! Sam Curran strikes with his first ball.

Faf du Plessis was looking to add to the six count with a shot aimed over long on but the ball skews off the outside half of the bat and carries out towards Hilton Cartwright on the off side boundary.

A brief moment of respite for the Invincibles.

Lyth is just timing it so sweetly. Every time he hits the ball it is hitting the middle of the bat and sailing over the boundary for six.

The run map shows Adam Lyth scored 36 with 5 sixes, 1 two, and 4 singles for Northern Superchargers Men
  14. Superchargers 45-0published at 20 balls

Six more! There is no stopping Adam Lyth at the moment. This one is banged in by Tom Curran and Lyth clubs it away over mid-wicket for another maximum.

That sounded so good off the bat. Remarkable hitting.

I reckon The Oval was about 75% full for the beginning of this game. It will be interesting to see how the crowd grows and (hopefully doesn't) fall, with the women on second. Tournament organisers will certainly be watching very closely.

Boooo! Just a single from the last ball of Topley's set.

Good captaincy from Jason Roy, going over to have a word with his bowler and just slow things down.

It worked but after 25 runs from that five, it's fair to say the change of ends for Topley didn't.

FOUR SIXES IN A ROW! Incredible hitting from Adam Lyth - can he complete the set?

Remarkable from Lyth, the third six on the trot was nailed over the covers and the fourth six went a long, long way back into the crowd at mid-wicket!

Can he make it five from five?

I don't even know if Lyth got the middle of the bat there but it sailed over the boundary.

He's absolutely nailed that down the ground. What a shot.
