  1. Spirit 50-2published at 55 balls

There's a huge cheer as London Spirit skipper Eoin Morgan takes to the field. He attempts to heave his first ball into the Thames but doesn't get anything on it. The next shot is a horribly mis-timed pull that spills into the leg-side.

Plenty of intent from Morgan but lacking in execution at the moment.

Meanwhile, Tom Helm has taken two wickets for just three runs from 15 balls so far, including an incredible 12 dot balls.

After the first game we can't judge the cricket on the first innings.

  6. Spirit 49-1published at 50 balls

Tanveer Sangha goes for just five form his next set as London Spirit reach the halfway stage going for less than run a ball.

Another low-scoring thriller in the offing?

Brilliant diving and a one-handed stop. That is excellent work!

  8. Spirit 44-1published at 45 balls

Brilliant fielding from Dan Mousley on the cover boundary as he dives full stretch and claws the back away from the rope one-handed.

Moeen Ali wanted his team to be on it in the field and they have delivered so far.

  9. Spirit 38-1published at 40 balls

Oof. Brutal from Ben McDermott as he smacks Benny Howell back over his head with disdain for a welcome boundary.

It's the exception rather than the rule however as the miserly Howell goes for just 10 runs from his set of 10 balls.

  10. Not outpublished at 36 balls

    In a word: yes.

  11. Umpire reviewpublished at 36 balls

And again! Zak Crawley sends Ben McDermott back after attempting another risky single. But did he get back in his ground in time?

  12. Spirit 31-1published at 35 balls

Zak Crawley apologises to Ben McDermott as he sets off for a single that was never really on. McDermott survives but the replays show that he would have been well gone with a direct hit.

That's what happens when the bowling side strangles the scoring.

  13. Spirit 27-1published at 30 balls

Tanveer Sangha bowls a front-foot no ball, criminal for a spinner. It was a good delivery as well, beating Zak Crawley all ends up outside his off stump. To rub salt in the wounds he bowls Crawley off the free hit.

Just four runs off that set though as Spirit continue to deal largely in singles.

We can see that it is not going to be a high scoring game because it is not the easiest pitch to score runs quickly.

  16. Spirit 23-1published at 25 balls

Good shot from Zak Crawley as he clubs Tanveer Sangha back over his head for four. A lovely sweep shot next ball is well fielded on the square leg boundary to deny him another four.

And that's the power play. London Spirit have edged up to 23-1.

We might be in for another low-scoring thriller.

  18. Spirit 15-1published at 20 balls

That dark cloud continues to loom menacingly in the distance but it remains dry for now.

Zak Crawley and Ben McDermott struggle to get Tom Helm off the square. He is 1-2 from 10 balls so far.

So far, so good for Phoenix as leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha comes into the attack.

  20. wicket

    Rossington b Helm 6 (Spirit 13-1)

    Pressure back on!

An in-swinging yorker from Tom Helm has done for Adam Rossington and his bails are sent flying!

The dangerous Spirit opener goes. A huge wicket for Phoenix.
