Slow start for the Spirit but they haven't lost a wicket yet.

  3. Spirit 6-0published at 10 balls

Tom Helm will bowl the next set as Zak Crawley continues to feel his way into this innings, playing a missing to a couple more deliveries.

When he does get bat on ball Benny Howell makes a superb stop at mid-wicket to deny him another boundary.

Miserly stuff from the Phoenix bowlers so far.

  5. Spirit 5-0published at 5 balls

Zak Crawley gets off the mark with a lovely cut short that flies through the off-side. The next delivery though he goes for a wild heave that misses everything and goes through to wicketkeeper Matthew Wade.

    An eventful first set.

  6. Not outpublished at 3 balls

He didn't hit it. The replays show the ball clipped the pads on the way through.

  7. Spirit reviewpublished at 2 balls

Kane Richardson thinks he has Zak Crawley caught behind third ball.

The sun is continuing to shine over Lord's as the teams take to the field, though there is a particularly nasty looking black crowd lurking behind the Media Centre. Fingers crossed it passes us by.

Adam Rossington and the returning Zak Crawley will open for London Spirit. Kane Richardson will open the bowling for Birmingham Phoenix.

    Here we go....

  10. Today's match-up - the class of 2019published at 18:25 British Summer Time 30 August 2022

We have chosen a couple of 2019 World Cup winners for our match-up this evening.

London Spirit skipper Eoin Morgan led England to that thrilling success three years ago but retired from international cricket in June after making more than 300 international white-ball appearances.

He hit 47 and 37 in his first two games of this year's Hundred but has reached double figures just once in the next five. Can he go out on a high here?

Only five players have scored more sixes than Moeen Ali's 13 in this year's tournament, proving once more that the Birmingham Phoenix captain is a world class white-ball player.

A batting all-rounder, Moeen has also proved more than useful with the ball in his hands, taking four wickets from just 50 balls.

His standout innings so far was a magnificent 52 from just 27 balls in Phoenix's win against Trent Rockets, a match where he also took one wicket for just three runs.

For London Spirit their objective is clear: Win and they will qualify for the knockout stages. Phoenix meanwhile will likely need to win by a big margin because of their inferior net run-rate.

The result of this game will also decide who automatically qualifies for Saturday's final at Lord's. If Spirit lose then Rockets will progress as group winners, but a Spirit win, alongside the required net run-rate improvement, would see them through to the final and demote Rockets to the eliminator.

London Spirit captain Eoin Morgan: "We would have done the same given the context of the game and the way the wicket played the other night. We didn't play well three night's ago but if we bring a better game we have a chance.

"We have spoken a lot about focusing on the priority and that is winning the match. Outside of that as the game unfolds and you get information you adjust and adapt accordingly. But first and foremost you try and win the game."

Birmingham Phoenix captain Moeen Ali: "It is a difficult one. Normally you'd want to bat here but with our position in the league we need to bowl them out and then chase quickly.

"On this sort of occasion we'd normally bat first but it is difficult with the situation we're in and we have been umming and ahing a little bit."

  14. Phoenix win the toss and will bowlpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 30 August 2022

Birmingham Phoenix captain Moeen Ali wins the toss and decides to bowl.
