  1. Southern Brave win despite Mooney heroics

Southern Brave opened their Hundred campaign with a six-wicket win over London Spirit, despite Beth Mooney's sublime 97 not out.

Spirit captain Charlie Dean chose to bat first and Mooney's led her side to 155-4.

It looked a competitive score at the halfway stage but England opener Danni Wyatt smashed 65 from 34 balls as Brave made light work of the chase.

Sophia Dunkley saw her side home with a steady 34 not out as they reached their target with six balls to spare.

It was the highest successful chase in the women's Hundred, with last year's runners-up Brave setting out an early warning of their batting power to the rest of the competition.

    Here's what else happened:

    • Amelia Kerr made 37 from 27 balls in a key partnership of 87 with Mooney.
    • Australia leg-spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington took three wickets for Southern Brave.
    • Wyatt and India's Smriti Mandhana added 62 for the first wicket in Brave's chase.
    • 17-year-old Freya Kemp smashed two sixes in her 14 not out, including one to wrap up victory.

    What's next?

London Spirit will be looking to bounce back from defeat as they take on Northern Superchargers, who also lost their first game, at Headingley on Sunday.

Southern Brave play Oval Invincibles on the same day in a repeat of last year's final, with both teams looking to make it two wins from two.

  2. Post update

Here are the best shots from Danni Wyatt's innings. She set the Brave on their way to a record run chase.

  3. 'Mooney was outstanding' - Shrubsole

Southern Brave captain Anya Shrubsole: "Credit to Beth Mooney she was outstanding and as a captain and bowler she makes you feel like you haven't got a clue about where to put your fielders. Danni [Wyatt] was brilliant with the bat.

"We thought the score was probably about par. It felt like a really good track. It was a good score from them but it felt like if a batter got in it was near on impossible to get them out. We know we've got a powerful batting line-up who can do some damage.

"Tahlia [McGrath] will come in on Saturday and maybe apart from Beth Mooney she is the form batter in T20 cricket. The depth allows Danni and Smriti [Mandhana] to attack.

"Freya Kemp was saying it was going to be slower balls so she was going to go out and whack it and we were like 'Yeah, ok Kempy' and thought she might have a look at one, but she just went for it. She is a great talent."

  4. Post update

The men's match between the two starts at 18:30 BST. You will be able to follow that match here.

  5. 'My job is to be brave and fearless'

Southern Brave opener Danni Wyatt to Sky Sports: "Yeah it was a really nice wicket out there. I'm really happy to contribute to a win and really pleasing to get a win on the board.

"My job is to just go out there and be brave and fearless and if it is in my area to go for it. It was a quick outfield so I really enjoyed being out there today.

"I'm trying to get a bit stronger in the gym but with T20 and Hundred you've just got to know your game, pick your bowlers and know your strength.

"Beth Mooney batted exceptionally and we knew it was going to take one of us to do what she did. The bowlers bowled exceptionally well to get them to get that target."

  6. Post update

You've got to feel for Beth Mooney. She hit 97 not out - the highest women's score in a Hundred match - but still lost.

She doesn't even win the Match Hero award. That has gone to Danni Wyatt for her 65 from 34 balls in Brave's chase.
