    Gibson c Devine b Molineux 0 (Spirit 1-1)

    What. A. Catch!

Dani Gibson has to depart for a duck but that shot looked destined for six. She smashes it high down the ground but somehow, Phoenix captain Sophie Devine leaps full-stretch and takes a tumbling diving catch inches away from the boundary rope.

Is that the moment of brilliance that Phoenix needed...?

  2. Spirit 1-0published at 99 balls left

    Target 83

A calm and easy start from Beth Mooney, the competition's leading run-scorer, as she just nudges the first ball from Sophie Molineux for a single.

It was an outstanding performance from Spirit with the ball and the field.

The overseas stars shone with Megan Schutt and Amelia Kerr taking two wickets each, Schutt the key with those two wickets of Amy Jones and Ellyse Perry.

But a word on Dani Gibson too - two wickets, two catches and a run out.

And she's now ready to open the batting with Beth Mooney. Spirit are certainly favourites, but can they do it in style? Or will Birmingham Phoenix pull off a miracle?

Spirit are clearly the favourites here.

    Thanks, Tom!

Well, did Birmingham Phoenix peak too soon? Three wins followed by three losses, when they needed just one more win to make it through, would definitely suggest so.

Spirit captain Charlie Dean said pre-match that they wanted to 'cause an upset' even though they're out of the competition. They may be about to do just that...

I'm not sure that could have gone much worse for Birmingham Phoenix.

After beginning the competition with three straight wins they are now staring down the barrel off a third straight loss that will end their hopes of finishing in the top three.

They will need to put in a truly spectacular bowling performance if they are to deny London Spirit a second win.

Will they do it? Here's Ffion Wynne to guide you through the Spirit reply.

London Spirit's Megan Schutt to Sky Sports: "We've finally put it all together. There have been games we've bowled well and not fielded well but we had the complete package there.

"The cutters worked quite well for us and the spinners changed their pace well.

"I love the new batters on strike when a wicket falls, hopefully I can take that back to the Big Bash and they'll bring it in!"

Probably Birmingham Phoenix's worst game in the competition.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 94 balls

Davies c Monaghan b Ker 6 (Phoenix 82 ball out)

Gwen Davies attempts another reverse-sweep but can only top-edge the ball to Alice Monaghan at backward point.

Phoenix skittled out for just 82 after just 94 balls!

  10. Phoenix 82-9published at 93 balls

That's a good shot from Gwen Davies, who reverse-sweeps Amelia Kerr away fine for four.

There have not been enough of those this innings however.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 88 balls

Fackrell run out (Gibson) 2 (Phoenix 76-9)

Ria Fackrell lobs the ball into the leg-side but hesitates as she goes for the second run.

Dani Gibson takes advantage with a wonderful throw straight to Beth Mooney, who whips off the bails with Fackrell way short of her ground.

Spirit brilliant in the field again.

That is a brilliant piece of relay fielding!

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 85 balls

    Arlott c Monaghan b Gibson 7 (Phoenix 73-8)

Brilliant fielding by the Spirit once more!

Emily Arlott hits the ball towards the long-on boundary where Naomi Dattani takes the catch, BUT sensing she was about to step over the boundary threw the ball back towards Alice Monaghan, who had backed up her team-mate. Superb stuff.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 80 balls

    Jones c Dean b Scrivens 24 (Phoenix 69-7)

    What a catch Charlie Dean!

Eve Jones was the set batter so had no choice but to try and lead the charge, but her attempted shot into the leg-side is plucked out of the air by Dean, who timed her jump perfectly.

    Brilliant by the Spirit skipper.

Are Birmingham Phoenix crashing out of the tournament or will it be like Phoenix rising from the ashes?

  19. Phoenix 65-6published at 75 balls

Amelia Kerr concedes just a single from the rest of her set.

Birmingham Phoenix are 65-6 with 25 balls left. They have to win to keep their play-off hopes alive remember.

They simply have to take some risks in these final 25 if they are to get up to a competitive total.
