  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 21.2 overs

    Lamb c Mlaba b Tryon 67 (Eng 127-1)

    South Africa have the breakthrough!

Emma Lamb will be furious with herself. It was a filthy full toss that Lamb could've hit anywhere but instead she miscues it horribly and straight into the hands of Mlaba at short fine leg.

    Another fine performance from Lamb.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Tammy Beaumontpublished at 21.1 overs

Tickled round the corner calmly by Tammy Beaumont off the spin of Chloe Tryon and that brings up her half-century.

A fine innings, played with real patience and discipline in the past few overs after a rapid start. She looks up for it today.

  3. Eng 126-0published at 21 overs

Mlaba drops short, and Emma Lamb powerfully heaves it away for four.

    They're racing along now.

I've played in France against the French cricket team. I didn't recognise the beret! They didn't play with them on. We played on their national ground which was a local park with dogwalkers on it!

  5. Eng 118-0published at 20 overs

    Lamb 61, Beaumont 47

South Africa haven't looked up for this from the start, to be honest. It's been tough going out there, but there wasn't even much enthusiasm at the start, which is a shame.

  6. ouch!

    Eng 118-0published at 19.4 overs

    Ohhh that looks painful.

Beaumont crunches a drive straight to Shabnim Ismail at mid-off but the ball bounces awkwardly and ricochets off her knee, allowing the batters to run two.

She drops to the floor and winces in pain. She's not had a fun return to international cricket so far.

Lamb has chopped that away beautifully! The timing of that was impeccable!

  8. Eng 111-0published at 19.2 overs

It doesn't matter in the slightest if Tammy Beaumont's scoring has slowed because Lamb is cashing in.

She hoicks De Klerk over mid-wicket before giving herself room and cutting firmly past point.

    Classy batting.

Tammy Beaumont seems to have got a little bogged down in the last 3 or 4 overs.

  10. Eng 107-0published at 19 overs

Lamb sweeps for two more to conclude Mlaba's latest over and England are basically having a net session now.

I've been really impressed with Emma Lamb. She has made international cricket look easy!

  12. 50 runs

50 for Emma Lambpublished at 18.1 overs

Hundred in the last game and now a half-century! Sublime effort from Emma Lamb, it's been chanceless.

She's really proven that she is ready for this level after a difficult start to her international career.

  13. Eng 100-0published at 18 overs

    Oooh, nearly!

Tammy Beaumont miscues a short ball horribly and it loops up towards square leg where the fielder sticks out an arm and it just evades her fingertips. Not a great shot and not a great fielding effort, really. Again.

100 partnership for Emma Lamb and Tammy Beaumont and it's looked supremely straightforward.

  14. Eng 96-0published at 17 overs

Bizarre scenes on the pitch with that review and bizarre scenes in the commentary box as Alex Hartley sends her co-commentator Melissa Story to go and find her sunglasses, only to realise that she's wearing them.

    What is happening.

Sune Luus doesn't feel like a natural captain. You can't be a fine leg deep third when you are trying to rally the troops. You have to be leading by example, not going and standing on the boundary.

  16. Not outpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 15 July 2022

    Nope, drifting down leg.

Odd. They literally appealed and reviewed that with a limp shrug. They didn't think it was out, you could tell, so what a weird review.

There was no enthusiasm with that appeal!

  18. South Africa reviewpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 15 July 2022

    Ermmm, OK.

The most half-hearted appeal you'll see from Nonkululeko Mlaba results in a review. Literally nobody looked convinced.

This is the only chance they've had all game so far, it stinks of desperation.

Emma Lamb has 42 not out and has just picked up exactly where she left off in Northampton.

South Africa have got their plans all wrong at the moment. It's been a strange old bowling performance.
